๐Ÿ‡ท๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ฎ๐Ÿ‡ณ Russia's President Vladimir Putin met with Minister of External Affairs of India Subrahmanyam Jaishankar at the Kremlin.

๐Ÿ’ฌ Vladimir Putin: Our trade is growing for the second year running and at a confident pace. This year, the growth rates were even higher than last year. <...> It is common knowledge that this is primarily energy resources โ€“ oil, oil products and coal, but itโ€™s not just that. We are working together in high-tech areas.

We are very pleased to note that despite the current turbulences in the world, relations with our traditional friends in Asia, with India and the Indian people are making steady headway.

We know the position of Prime Minister Modi and have talked about this more than once. I am referring to his position, his attitude to complicated processes, including hot spots, the situation in Ukraine. I have repeatedly informed him about the situation around this conflict. I know about his striving to resolve this problem through peaceful means. <...>

We will be happy to see our friend, Prime Minister Modi in Russia. We will have an opportunity to discuss the current issues and talk about the prospects for developing #RussiaIndia relations. We have to cover a lot of ground. <...>

I realise that next year, Indiaโ€™s domestic political calendar is not simple. It is complicated considering that India will hold general elections to parliament.

๐Ÿค We wish success to our friends in India. We believe we will maintain our traditional friendly ties in any alignment of political forces.

๐ŸŽ™ Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrovโ€™s remarks and answers to media questions during a joint press conference with India's Minister of External Affairs Subrahmanyam Jaishankar (Moscow, December 27, 2023)

๐Ÿ’ฌ The trust-based nature of #RussiaIndia relations is rooted in mutual respect and immune to momentary fluctuations. These contacts fully reflect the very nature of our cooperation within our special privileged strategic partnership, as set forth in the documents signed by the leaders of Russia and India.

โœ… We agreed on several steps which are expected to enable us to expand our cooperation, including as we prepare to launch the International North-South Transport Corridor, create the Chennai-Vladivostok route and work together to develop the Northern Sea Route, which is a promising avenue for cooperation.

We discussed prospects for military-technical cooperation, including joint production of modern weapons. We made progress in this area as well. Our interaction is strategic in this respect. Strengthening this cooperation meets the national interests of our states and helps maintain security in Eurasia.

We confirmed our desire to intensify cooperation in energy. This is also a strategic area in our cooperation. I am referring to the buildup of hydrocarbon exports from Russia to India, and interaction in the peaceful use of nuclear energy, primarily, the continuing implementation of the Kudankulam Nuclear Power Plant project.

๐Ÿค We are sincerely grateful to our Indian colleagues for their striving to adopt a responsible approach to discussing and resolving regional and global problems in line with the principles of equitable and fair international cooperation. This approach is typical of Indiaโ€™s position on the developments in Ukraine and around it.

๐Ÿ‡ท๐Ÿ‡บ ๐Ÿšด๐Ÿปโ€โ™‚๏ธ ๐Ÿ‡ฎ๐Ÿ‡ณ On April 14, New Delhi hosted the Russian-Indian friendship cycling rally dedicated to the 77th anniversary of the diplomatic relations between the two countries and the 40th anniversary of the first Indian cosmonaut Rakesh Sharmaโ€™s spaceflight as part of the Soviet-Indian crew.

The event was organized by the Russian Embassy in India jointly with the Confederation of Indian Cyclists. It is the second time such a rally took place in New Delhi โ€” the first one was held exactly a year ago.

๐Ÿ‘ฅ Today, it brought together more than 600 people โ€” the Embassyโ€™s staff, compatriots living in India, students of local and Russian universities, representatives of the diplomatic corps and the public, journalists โ€” united by a passion for cycling.

๐Ÿ’ฌ Among its participants was Russian Ambassador to India Denis Alipov who underscored the significance of such events that confirm the strong friendship ties between the two countries.

๐Ÿ‡ท๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ฎ๐Ÿ‡ณ President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin and Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi, on an official visit to Russia, held talks in the Grand Kremlin Palace.

๐Ÿ’ฌ Vladimir Putin: Mr Prime Minister, this is your first official visit after your reappointment following parliamentary elections. I would like to congratulate you on this once again.

Our countries have long-time friendship and good relations that have evolved over the decades. This year, we are marking the 77th Anniversary of diplomatic relations.

Today, our relations have the status of a specially privileged strategic partnership. We are in permanent contact, and we prioritise the development of trade and economic ties. Certainly, their development meets the interests of the people of India and the peoples of the Russian Federation.

๐Ÿ“ˆ Last year, our trade soared by 60 percent and even more, by 66 percent; it increased by an additional 20 percent in the first quarter of 2024.

๐ŸŒ We cooperate closely on the international arena, including at international organisations, primarily the #UN and such associations as the #SCO and #BRICS.

Yesterday, we had an opportunity to discuss virtually all practical issues in an informal setting. I am grateful to you for devoting attention to the most acute issues and for trying to find some options for resolving the Ukraine crisis, primarily by peaceful methods.

Mr Prime Minister, we will be delighted to see you in Kazan this autumn at the upcoming BRICS Summit.

At the end of my opening remarks, I would like to wish you new successes in facilitating the development of the Indian state. You and I know each other for a long time, and I know that your entire life is devoted to implementing the idea of strengthening the Indian state and improving the life of the people of India.

๐Ÿ‡ท๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ’ฌ Russian Ambassador to India Denis Alipov's interview with NDTV TV channel (April 22, 2026)

Key theses:

#RussiaIndia #DruzhbaDosti

The contacts between the leaders of our countries are regular and intensive. The coordination of our approaches to many topical issues of international politics has been very close. I am very optimistic about the future and the ongoing projects in our bilateral relations.

#MiddleEast

The implications of the conflict have been severe for the entire world. Russia has condemned the US and Israeli actions against Iran. I guess the Gulf countries have become disillusioned with the US and the security guarantees that were promised to them. The energy and fertilizer markets have been jeopardized.

#Oil

Our oil supplies to India have substantially increased. The anti-Russia sanctions imposed by the US and the European Union are illegal in nature; India does not recognize them. We have always stated that we are prepared to supply as much oil as India is prepared to absorb.

#Defence

Russia offers extensive transfer of technology and very favorable conditions. It is not only sales; it is a long-term technological partnership. We have a comprehensive program of defence cooperation.

#Tourism

Russia is an attractive destination to visit, and last year, in 2025, we saw the largest number of Indian tourists on our Arctic coast. There has been a consistent increase in both Indian tourists to Russia and Russian tourists to India. We have proposed a visa-free agreement between the two countries for groups of tourists.
