When they ask me what I did with my life, I want the answer to be simple I loved one person deeply, honestly, and without condition, and I never once looked back.

Come closer. No, closer than that. I want to tell you something that only works at the distance where your breath becomes mine and words stop being necessary altogether.

No plans, no clock, no reason to move. Just your head on my chest and the whole lazy afternoon stretching out like a cat in the sun. This is the life I’d trade every adventure for.

I rehearsed this. I really did. But you looked up, smiled, and my whole carefully planned speech collapsed into three honest words I’m terrified and thrilled to finally mean.

Your hands on me feel like a question and an answer at the same time. Stay close.

The first thing I want every morning is the sleepy curve of your smile and the warmth of you reaching for me before either of us is fully awake. That’s my whole definition of happy.

I can write the most beautiful poem
but it will never touch the person
who stopped reading my chapter long ago.
