📢 Starting 23 September 2026, it’ll be an offence to engage in disruptive or nuisance behaviour on buses and bus interchanges.

As announced at COS 2025, we hope that the new regulations can make journeys more pleasant for all!

The following behaviours that cause nuisance or annoyance to others will be enforced against:
🦶 Placing your feet or footwear on any part of the bus other than the floor of the bus
🔊 Playing audio at loud volumes
⚠️ Causing obstruction or danger to others
🍟 Eating or drinking onboard buses
🗑️ Littering

Non-compliant commuters may receive an administrative Notification of Offence (NOO) from public transport staff, which can lead to a fine of up to $5,000 following LTA’s investigation.

Together, let’s be more considerate and play our part in keeping journeys enjoyable for everyone! 🙏 🫶

*Commuters with physical or medical conditions will be assessed with discretion.

#PSA From 25 Sep to 9 Oct 2026, owners of EVs and Plug-in Hybrid EVs (PHEVs) can vote for their preferred differentiated EV licence plate design on the OneMotoring website. Their preferences will be taken into consideration as part of the final design selection process. 🤳

Taking onboard public and industry feedback, LTA and SCDF have developed two alternative designs featuring different shades of blue. These colours were selected after extensive testing to ensure good visibility in both daylight and low-light conditions. 👀💡

#DidYouKnow These licence plates are designed to help first responders identify EVs quickly, while remaining clearly visible to traffic and enforcement cameras. 🚑🚓

This Week in Transport 🚶🚴🚌🚇🚗 – 24 Sep 2026

1️⃣ Better bus connections
📣 Since Jul 2024, under the Bus Connectivity Enhancement Programme, we’ve introduced or extended 37 bus services and improved 76 existing bus services.

Recent improvements include an extended service 381 and more trips on CDS 674 and service 861.

There’s more: From 25 Oct, 3 new services will serve Tengah and Woodlands. Soon, shuttle services will also be introduced along the Jurong Region Line corridor, before its opening.

2️⃣ Project Nebula Hackathon
🏆🎉 Tertiary students tackled “rail world” challenges at our first NebulaX hackathon from 18-20 Sep, exploring ways to further improve rail maintenance, fault detection, and commuter journeys.

Congratulations to NTU’s “Bus MRT Walk” team for clinching the first place! We hope to inspire more youths to contribute and shape the future of land transport.

🚗📡 #OBUUpdates From October 2026, you might start noticing new road markings and signage on our roads!

These are part of preparation for the transition to satellite-based ERP 2 from 1 Jan 2027, when existing ERP gantries will be progressively removed. These new road markings and signage will help motorists identify ERP charging locations. 🛣️

Here's what to look out for:
🔵 Two oval blue 'ERP' symbols on each lane of arterial and slip roads
🔵 Three oval blue 'ERP' symbols on each lane of expressways
🪧 A new "ERP Charge Zone" road sign at the start of each ERP charging location

These visual cues will complement OBU notifications, which will alert you before entering an ERP charging location, provide information on prevailing charges, and indicate the amount charged.

📱 Stay tuned for more updates as we prepare for a smooth transition to ERP 2! ✨

👮 #DidYouKnow All licensed foreign cross-border taxis must install the ERP 2 on-board unit (#OBU)?

🚨 The OBU helps us detect and take action against foreign taxis that illegally provide domestic trips in Singapore.

This helps protect the livelihoods of local drivers, while supporting safe and convenient cross-border connectivity for commuters.

Between May and Jul 2026, we used ERP 2 data to detect 60 instances of suspicious behaviour involving 31 unique foreign vehicles. The drivers were contacted and reminded of their offences.

⚠️ From Sep 2026, we will commence formal enforcement action against foreign cross-border taxis offering illegal ride-hailing trips in Singapore.

We do not tolerate abuse towards our officers. 🚫

An appellant who made abusive and vulgar remarks in correspondence with our officer was reported to the Police. 👮

The appellant was subsequently convicted under the Protection from Harassment Act 2014 and fined $8,000. ⚖️💰

We take threats and abuse against our officers seriously. Those who engage in such conduct will be reported to Police and face the full force of the law. 🛡️

🚙 Improving connectivity to Tuas Port and Tuas South 🚗

🛣️ We've just awarded 3 civil contracts for the construction of Tuas Road Viaduct Phase 2 (TRV2) - an extension of the existing Tuas Viaduct on both its eastern and western ends.

Together, they will form a continuous elevated road corridor from AYE and PIE to Pioneer Road and Tuas South (directly connecting to Tuas Port).

The contracts have been awarded to:
1️⃣ Hwa Seng Builder Pte Ltd: Road viaduct along Pioneer Road
2️⃣ China Communications Construction Company Limited (Singapore Branch): Road viaduct along Tuas South Ave 3
3️⃣ China Harbour (Singapore) Engineering Company Pte Ltd: Road viaduct along Tuas South Boulevard

👷🏼‍♂️⚒️ All 3 contractors have established track records in delivering major transport and civil engineering infrastructure projects in Singapore.

Works are expected to commence in early 2027 and progressively complete from 2032. 🗓️
