We've received a number of requests to explain how Marhaba differs from other DeFi platforms.

Today's post is to shed some light on this topic. Some of the key aspects of Marhaba are:

🔸 The prohibition of Riba to create an interest-free solution to trade/deal with crypto assets
🔸 The prohibition of Gharar to ensure that Marhaba only deals with transactions that are free of excessive uncertainty
🔸 The prohibition of Maysir to ensure that the products offered do not have elements of gambling and zero-sum games
🔸 The facilitation of Halal transactions by prohibiting transactions and assets that do not comply to shariah requirements
🔸 Continued reviewing and screening of Shariah compliant assets to make sure the assets residing or interacting in the wallet are halal.

The aim of DeFi is to offer services which are usually offered by traditional banking industry in a decentralized environment through blockchain. These include services such as loans, saving accounts, investments and more. To create a shariah compliant DeFi environment, we will need to adapt and engineer existing financial instruments and transactions to keep them free from elements that will contravene the shariah.

There are several crypto asset types in a DeFi ecosystem. Although each has to pass shariah screening to be considered as permissible, we can put them into 6 distinct categories. This will help us establish how they must be traded on the platform.
