In Charles G. Beaudette's 2002 book Excess Heat – Why Cold Fusion Research Prevailed (MES Local PDF), he writes about the Martin Fleischmann and Stanley Pons' hole-in-the-floor palladium experiment. Although the experiment was running for several months, it wasn't until Pons increased the applied current from 0.75 amperes to 1.5 amperes, then sent his son Joey to turn off the current at the end of the day, and they left for the night.
