MES Math Q/A 66: What are Gauss's Laws for Electricity and Magnetism? - YouTube - Rumble - Odysee - BitChute - X - Twitch - Math Q/A playlist

Gauss's law states that the divergence of the electric field is proportional to the electric charge density. This means electric field lines diverge away from positive charges and converge towards negative charges. Gauss's law for magnetism states that the divergence of the magnetic field is zero everywhere, so magnetic field lines form closed loops; hence magnetic monopoles should not exist. If they did, the law would have to be modified to include a magnetic charge density term, making it directly analogous to Gauss's law for electricity.

MES Math Q/A 67: What is Faraday's Law? - YouTube - Rumble - Odysee - BitChute - X - Twitch - Math Q/A playlist

Faraday's law of induction states that a time-varying magnetic field is always accompanied by a circulating electric field, described via the curl (the cross-product operator built from the partial derivatives of the electric field components).

Hutchison Effect: 19 lb bushing levitates with linearly increasing acceleration – "Hyperforce” - Screenshots - YouTube - Playlist (Hive)

In this video, I go over the famous 19-lb bushing Hutchison Effect levitation footage, which, when analyzed frame-by-frame, demonstrates a unique linearly increasing acceleration. This analysis was first done by George Hathaway in his book Mindbending, which Thomas Valone later coined the phrase "hyperforce" to describe it. Compare this with the force of gravity, which is constant. Note that Hathaway's results were obtained by taking derivatives of the position trendline, which was modelled as a cubic function. I compare these derivatives with direct measurements from the position data and obtain similar results. Note also that the 3rd derivative of position, or 1st derivative of acceleration, is termed jerk or jolt.

MES Math Q/A 68: What is Faraday's Flux Rule? - YouTube - Math Q/A playlist

Faraday’s flux rule states that a changing magnetic flux through a closed circuit induces an electromotive force (emf) that opposes the change. The main difference from the more general Faraday’s law of induction is that the flux rule applies specifically to closed circuits, while the broader law describes how a changing magnetic field produces a circulating electric field even without a physical circuit.

MES Math Q/A 69: What is Electromotive Force (EMF)? - YouTube - Rumble - Odysee - BitChute - X - Twitch - Math Q/A playlist

Electromotive force (emf) is the work done per unit charge by any non-conservative forces (chemical reactions inside a battery, or the induced electric field from a changing magnetic flux) that drive current around a closed circuit. Emf is analogous to the mechanical work done by a pump, which creates a pressure difference (analogous to voltage) to cause water to flow even without a height difference.

John Hutchison Interviewed by Tom Sky in his Vancouver Lab (2007) - Screenshots - YouTube - Playlist (MES)

In this video I have uploaded a rare 2007 interview of John Hutchison in his Vancouver lab apartment by photographer Tom Sky and his Polish engineer uncle. John also runs a Hutchison Effect experiment live for them, which levitates a plastic can and aluminum foil in the back. I also include later emails from Tom saying he felt strangely ill after witnessing the Hutchison Effect. Tom told me that he recovered by "grounding in nature" via walking in sand and water at the beach – he felt electrical discharge leave his body! Tom may join a future MES Livestream with John soon, so stay tuned!

This is rare footage that shows John recording and playing back experiment footage live to observers, as well as showing an extended look at John when he is operating the many radio and electromagnetic frequency controls!

MES Math Q/A 70: What is the Lorentz force? - YouTube - Twitch - Math Q/A playlist - mes.fm/math

The Lorentz force is the force exerted on a charged particle by electric and magnetic fields, and is proportional to the signed charge q. The electric force acts in the direction of the electric field for positive charges and opposite the field for negative charges. The magnetic force is perpendicular to both the particle's velocity and the magnetic field (hence the cross product), and also reverses if the charge is negative.

F = q(E + v × B)

Hutchison Effect: Plastic Can Levitates and Video is Played Back LIVE - Screenshots - mes.fm/hutchison

In this video I clip out the clips from the 2007 Tom Sky footage of the Hutchison Effect to show John playing back live footage he recorded with his camera of a levitating can that Tom and his uncle missed in their footage. This is a rare, and possibly only, find, as all other available footage show the antigravity and jellification effects after their tape recording had been published in various media outlets. I believe George Hathaway gave John this camera, which was placed on a tripod filming the target area.

MES Math Q/A 71: What is the Conservation of Angular Momentum? - timestamps - mes.fm/math-qa

The law of conservation of angular momentum states that the total angular momentum of a system is constant whenever the net external torque on that system is zero. The law does not require the system (or its parts) to be rigid. That is why a figure skater spins faster when she pulls her arms in, and why a spinning solid that crumbles no longer rotates as a single object: the same total angular momentum is then carried by the motions of the fragments about the original center of mass.

Problems Plus 5: Launch Angle of 56° maximizes TOTAL distance a projectile travels - Notes - Problems Plus - mes.fm/math

In this video, I show that firing a projectile has a maximum total distance traveled in the air when the launch angle is approximately 56°. This is 11° higher than the 45° angle needed to maximize the total horizontal distance. I derive this by starting from the parametric equations of trajectory, obtaining the velocity vector as the derivative of the position vector, and then obtaining the integral formula for the arc length the projectile travels (whose integrand is the magnitude of the velocity vector). The arc length is maximized when its derivative is zero, i.e. at a critical point, thus obtaining our answer of about 56° and a max total distance of about 1.20v²/g. Fascinating stuff!
