In this video, I show that firing a projectile has a maximum total distance traveled in the air when the launch angle is approximately 56°. This is 11° higher than the 45° angle needed to maximize the total horizontal distance. I derive this by starting from the parametric equations of trajectory, obtaining the velocity vector as the derivative of the position vector, and then obtaining the integral formula for the arc length the projectile travels (whose integrand is the magnitude of the velocity vector). The arc length is maximized when its derivative is zero, i.e. at a critical point, thus obtaining our answer of about 56° and a max total distance of about 1.20v²/g. Fascinating stuff!

Just to clarify, as I have been asked by people regarding the 9/11 Alchemy films. I had a great working/research relationship with Chris Hampton the film maker, producer and researcher. We became good friends also. Chris told me that the Alchemy film is as much mine as his. His words meant a lot to hear that. Chris has also said that he wants me to have his unfinished Project Blue Beam film material and script. I shall be talking to Chris at some point when our schedules allow. It was an honour to work with him on the film, and smaller part on his follow up film. We was intouch daily for 8 months during the making of it. The film itself has stood the test of time 8 years on.

THEFT OF EQUIPMENT - LIVERPOOL - 21/8/2026
On Friday morning, just after 10am, the tour team were loading the tour equipment from the function room at the Liverpool Adelphi Hotel (The Sefton suite), into the van. The function room had been locked over night. An equipment bag containing 3 HD video cameras and a 4 track audio recorder and other camera equipment was left unattended for about 30 seconds near the side door of the function room on a table. During that period a man who looked similar to Danny Murphy but with a thinner face, average height and build wearing a grey track suit, took the camera bag and put it in a rucksack and fled the building then disappeared on a pushbike. Iain Davis saw him leaving, and shouted to try and prevent him leaving. There was over £1,000 of equipment in the bag which also contained the video and audio footage from the Liverpool event. Anyone with any information please email richard@richplanet.net.
