Malicious versions of Signal and Telegram found in the Google Play store
ESET reports that Trojan-infected clones of the Signal and Telegram apps have entered the Google Play Store and Samsung Galaxy Store. The fakes contained BadBazaar spyware and were distributed by the Chinese hacking group GREF.
ESET expert Lukáš Štefanko, who discovered malicious applications, says that BadBazaar is able to track the exact location of the infected device, steal call logs and SMS, record phone calls, take photos using the device’s camera, and steal contact lists, files and databases data.
