(Phnom Penh): On the morning of Tuesday, 3 November 2026, at Sofitel Phnom Penh Phokeethra, Her Excellency TEKRETH Kamrang, Secretary of State of the Ministry of Commerce, High Representative of Her Excellency CHAM Nimul, Minister of Commerce, together with His Excellency Derek YIP, Australian Ambassador to the Kingdom of Cambodia, presided over the opening ceremony of the Cambodia Business Forum & Women’s Empowerment Principles (WEPs) Awards under the theme “Rising Together for Gender Equality and an Inclusive Future”.
The event was attended by Excellencies Under Secretaries of State, Deputy Directors General, and the Director of the Trade Training and Research Institute (TTRI) of the Ministry of Commerce; Ms. Katja Freiwald, Regional Lead of the Women’s Economic Empowerment Programme at UN Women Asia and the Pacific, representing the UN Women Cambodia Country Office; as well as representatives of business associations, business owners, corporate executives, and other relevant stakeholders.
The Cambodia Business Forum was organized to strengthen private sector engagement and knowledge sharing; expand market access opportunities for women-owned businesses and gender-responsive enterprises through business networking, procurement engagement, and supplier diversity initiatives; and promote broader adoption of inclusive business practices. Furthermore, the forum aimed to encourage practical actions, foster strategic partnerships, and facilitate the exchange of best practices to advance gender equality and women’s economic empowerment in Cambodia.
