M+ Global Market Update – 05Aug26
Fresh Highs as AI Profits Surge and Oil Prices Ease
US: As both the Dow and the S&P 500 hit fresh record highs alongside Brent oil plummeting below the USD80 mark, we expect the market to trade positively. We favour Palantir following its blowout Q2 print, including a 93% YoY revenue surge and raised full-year 2026 guidance, alongside a 29.5% gap-up shattering multi-month overhead resistance, as its Artificial Intelligence Platform continues to show strong demand across commercial and defence enterprises. Lastly, investors can take another look at SpaceX as it topped Q2 revenue estimates in its first post-IPO report, narrowing its net loss to USD541m (vs USD1bn loss a year ago), with its share price potentially bottoming out.
MY: Tracking Wall Street’s performance, we expect the local bourse to trend higher in the near term. Meanwhile, with HARTA releasing strong 1QFY27 results yesterday, including 73.1% QoQ and 455.4% YoY profit growth as well as a double-digit PAT margin of 11.6%, we believe buying interest will be sustained in glove counters after being oversold over the past few weeks, creating a favourable risk-reward ratio. Beisdes, we favour DNEX as SilTerra will continue to benefit from the AI-driven silicon photonics megatrend, while plantation stocks such as SDG, KLK, and UTDPLT will continue to benefit from elevated FCPO prices.
Stocks to watch:
Construction: *CBHB*, *HEGROUP*, *ICENTS*
Technology: INFOM, *MCLEAN*
Building Material: SCGBHD, *YBS*

M+ Global Market Update – 06Aug26
Sentiment Mixed Amid Profit-Taking
US: Following recent all-time-high rallies, we expect Wall Street to see further profit-taking in the near term before resuming its upward momentum. Meanwhile, supported by recent AI earnings outperformance driving a recovery in chip and AI-related counters, we like Marvell Technology (MRVL) as the Group benefits from strong custom AI ASIC demand and accelerating high-speed DC optical interconnect orders. Lastly, we continue to favour Logitech International S.A. (LOGI), as the Group anticipates higher margins moving forward following the launch of premium products such as the MX Master 4 mouse and the PRO X2 SUPERSTRIKE gaming mouse, both of which have rapidly become top-selling products.
MY: With the US Federal Communications Commission (FCC) reportedly drafting restrictions on Chinese-made optical transceivers to protect core AI infrastructure, we expect this regulatory move to further accelerate the "China+1" supply chain shift towards Malaysian tech players, benefiting companies such as NATGATE and INARI. The former is expected to capture higher order volumes given its deep manufacturing relationship with US optical networking giant Coherent, while the latter should secure increased chip-packaging demand through its close partnership with Broadcom as global tech giants re-route orders away from China.
Stocks to watch:
Utility: *EIPOWR*, UUE, *YTLPOWR*
Building Material: PMETAL, *SCGBHD*
Solar: SAMAIDEN, *SLVEST*
Consumer: 99SMART

Good afternoon all,
After attending EG’s management briefing, here’s our quick takeaways.
📌 EG’s management expects no material impact on the Group from recent US FCC regulatory developments, supported by EG’s ongoing exclusive manufacturing and technology-transfer partnership established directly with CIG US, a US-domiciled entity, back in 2022.
📌 Since October 2022, EG has served as CIG US’s exclusive worldwide strategic manufacturer for 5G optical modules. CIG US continues to experience strong operational momentum, supported by ongoing tailwinds in the AI sector.
📌 Meanwhile, the heightened US FCC regulatory scrutiny on Chinese entities is prompting other direct US customers to actively seek manufacturing alternatives with EG, further solidifying the Group’s positioning within the China+1 supply chain transition.
📌 Additional updates that we got from the management include:
- EG successfully passed the full-process manufacturing audit for 1.6T optical modules, utilizing new NPO (Non-Package / Near-Package Optics) technology.
- The Group is expanding the second floor of its PG2 facility with 20 new automated production lines, boosting overall manufacturing capacity for optical modules by 4X. Trial runs are scheduled to begin in September, with commercial mass production expected by December 2026, catering to 800G and 1.6T optical module.
📈 Our View: We remain optimistic about EG's prospects as its direct partnership with CIG US (a US-domiciled entity) insulates the Group from ongoing US-China geopolitical and regulatory headwinds. Consequently, we leave our net profit forecasts unchanged at RM110.94m for FY26 and RM171.20m for FY27. Supported by an assigned P/E multiple range of 14x–15x, we reiterate our Fair Value range of RM2.56 to RM2.74.

M+ Global Market Update – 07Aug26
Geopolitical Heat Fuels Risk-Off Mode
US: Wall Street is set for extended profit-taking as crude oil prices surge following heightened geopolitical friction in the Strait of Hormuz. Reports of attacks on targets within the vital waterway, alongside a joint framework between Iran and Oman restricting US vessel passage until compensation is paid, have sparked fresh inflation and supply chain anxieties. With risk appetite muted across growth sectors, institutional capital is expected to rotate into energy heavyweights and defensive plays to hedge against macro volatility, leading us to monitor energy names such as ExxonMobil (XOM) and Chevron (CVX).
MY: On the local front, the FBM KLCI is expected to trade on a mixed footing. Spiking crude oil prices driven by Middle East supply disruptions will continue to provide immediate trading catalysts across energy plays such as HIBISCS and DAYANG. However, strong fundamental catalysts should continue to support resilience in tech counters such as PENTA and EG. The former stands to gain from steady automated test equipment demand tied to AI infrastructure buildouts, while the latter remains well positioned to capture rerouted optical module orders through its ongoing "China+1" capacity expansions.

M+ Global Market Update – 10Aug26
Mixed Sentiment as Middle East Uncertainty Persists
US: Wall Street may trend higher in view of more dovish sentiment from the Fed following softer-than-expected jobs data. However, upside gains may remain capped in the near term, as renewed geopolitical friction, such as attacks on a Saudi refinery could weigh on equity markets. Nevertheless, dovish Fed expectations should benefit mega-cap tech leaders Microsoft (MSFT), NVIDIA (NVDA), and Amazon (AMZN). Additionally, institutional capital will likely seek balance through defensive hedges in ExxonMobil (XOM) and Lockheed Martin (LMT).
MY: On the local front, the FBM KLCI is anticipated to trade on a positive note amid rising Brent crude prices, as funds shift their attention to domestic energy plays. Meanwhile, the rebound on Wall Street could lift the Technology sector further, with NATGATE viewed as a key beneficiary of the "China+1" supply chain realignment. Trading momentum will remain anchored in specific growth stories; we favour LACMED following a technical breakout, while KOPI has surged above its 100-day Simple Moving Average (SMA100), driven by its international expansion into Indonesia via a 40:60 joint venture with PT Era Boga Nusantara, complemented by an asset-light franchise entry into Mauritius with Coffee Time Ltd.

M+ Global Market Update – 11Aug26
US CPI in Focus and KLCI Poised for a Rebound
US: Following a slightly weaker close, Wall Street is expected to open mixed as investors turn cautious ahead of Wednesday’s US CPI report, which will be closely watched for rate signals after softer labour-market data. Ongoing US-Iran tensions continue to cap broader gains, keeping institutional flows split between selective growth exposure and defensive hedges. Berkshire Hathaway’s added investment in Alphabet also offers a high-profile vote of confidence in the longer-term AI and cloud-computing theme.
MY: Over in Malaysia, the FBM KLCI is expected to trade on a firmer footing and attempt a rebound, supported by structural catalysts and steady contract flows. Buying interest may reignite in technology heavyweights such as INARI and FRONTKN, as sustained global AI capital expenditure continues to underpin demand for backend semiconductor services and precision cleaning. Stock-specific momentum may focus on MNHLDG ahead of its Main Market transfer, following recent Securities Commission approval and a fresh RM122.3m TNB underground cable contract win, while ITMAX remains in focus after securing a RM134.3m MCMC contract for the Kota Kinabalu Smart City project, further expanding its digital-infrastructure footprint.
