Bursa Malaysia Midday Recap: Positive Start for FBM KLCI
The FBM KLCI started the week on a positive note, tracking Wall Street's rally last Friday. Although the index is positive, market sentiment favored the bears, with more laggards than gainers. The healthcare sector emerged as the top mover, led by KPJ, which hit a new all-time high following its special dividend announcement amid record profits. Key events to watch this week include BNM's OPR announcement (6 Mar), US ISM manufacturing PMI (3 Mar), US Nonfarm Payrolls and US unemployment data (7 Mar).
Our analyst recently released a KPJ report highlighting its FY24 earnings beat expectations, driven by higher revenue intensity and Malaysia's robust medical tourism outlook. Investors seeking trading opportunities may consider KPJ (Target Price: MYR 3.00) as a potential buy. For the full report, stock ideas and market flows, access Discover Tab on Maybank Trade MY app.

M+ Market Update – 04Mar25
Traders Could Seek Conservative Trades
The local bourse remained under extended selling pressure, dragged down by Industrial Products and Consumer heavyweights. Similarly, Wall Street ended lower after President Trump’s confirmation confirmed a 25%tariffs on imports from Canada and Mexico, with an additional 10% tariff on China. In the economic data, US ISM PMI data last month fell to 50.3, from 50.9 in January, with new orders plunging from 55.1 to 48.6, raising concerns over potential growth slowdown. Traders will continue to monitor (i) S&P Global Services PMI, (ii) the ECB interest rate decision, and (iii) China’s trade balance this week. In the commodities market, Brent crude remained below USD73/barrel, while gold prices traded flat around the USD2,900 level. Meanwhile, CPO prices fell below the RM4,500/tonne.
Sector Focus: Despite PGLOBAL (M+ fair value: RM0.92) settling lower than its IPO price, we remain optimistic due to its strong fundamentals, extensive global reach and decent market share. We believe the current sell down is due to generally weak market sentiment, and the share price may gradually trade towards its fair value over the long run. Meanwhile, given the ongoing market weakness, traders may look into Banking, Utilities, and REITs due to their stable earnings and consistent dividends. Also, we favour ITMAX and TIMECOM for its resilient business model.
Stocks to watch:
Technology: *ITMAX*, *TIMECOM*
Consumer: *LHI*, LWSABAH
Utility: *KJTS*, PEKAT
Healthcare: IHH, *KPJ*
Financial: KENANGA
Plantation: HSPLANT

Bursa Malaysia Midday Recap: Trade Tariffs Take Effect
The FBM KLCI opened on a weaker note following the US President’s decision to implement tariffs on Canada and Mexico starting today, while doubling a levy on China. Market breadth remained weak, with laggards significantly outpacing gainers. All indices traded in the red, with the technology sector emerging as the main laggard, followed by the property sector — both extending their three-day losing streak.
Despite the market weakness, potential trading opportunities may still arise. Today's Traders’ Almanac highlights EDGENTA (Estimated Resistance: MYR0.945; Stop Loss: MYR0.715), SRIDGE (Estimated Resistance: MYR0.665; Stop Loss: MYR0.500), and PECCA (Estimated Resistance: MYR1.75; Stop Loss: MYR1.32) as potential BUYs.
