FBM KLCI: 1,542.49 pts (+2.27pts, +0.15%)
Following the return of foreign funds, the FBMKLCI (+0.15%) continued to gain momentum and charged higher toward 1542.49 pts, with heavyweights like SUNWAY (+24.0 sen) and IHH (+13.0 sen) lifting the key index today. For the bond market, MARC Ratings Berhad data showed that foreign investors returned to Malaysian bonds with RM2.8bn inflows in April 2025. The market breadth remained positive, with 744 winners outpacing 310 losers. In the broader market, all the sectors closed in the positive territory, with Technology (+3.57%) gaining the most.

Foreign Funds To Support Rebound

US: Friday’s session saw Wall Street extended its winning streak, fuelled by stronger-than-expected jobs data, robust earnings and positive guidance from Technology stock. This week, traders will be focused on the Federal Reserve’s FOMC meeting and several quarterly earnings reports from Ford, Walt Disney, AMD, and Palantir will continue to roll in. Given the recent rebound, we believe the market could see some profit taking activity. In the commodities market, Brent crude hovered around USD 61–62/bbl, while gold prices retreated below USD 3,300/oz. Meanwhile, CPO prices continued to trade below RM 3,900/MT.

MY: With seven consecutive sessions of foreign fund inflows, we opine that Technology stocks to be the main beneficiaries, as the sector largely depends on FDI and was heavily sold down in April. Also, with the government’s decision to halve the egg subsidy—prior to its full removal by 1st August 2025—we expect it to benefit egg players like TEOSENG, PWF and CAB as they have experienced breakouts after the news and signalling potential trading opportunities. Lastly, we view ReachTen to be undervalued despite rising on the listing day, supported by its strong recurring revenue and optimistic in its expansion plans.

FBM KLCI: 1,539.54 pts (-2.95pts, -0.19%)
While Wall Street was upbeat on stronger-than-anticipated jobs data last week, the local bourse began the week on a softer tone, with losses in the Telcos & Media sector dampening the sentiment. Market breadth was negative, with losers outpacing gainers by 604-to-358 stocks. Banking (+0.19%) outperformed, led by gains in PBBANK (+4.0 sen) and RHBBANK (+9.0 sen), while Technology (-2.02%) was the worst performer after the recent rebound due to stronger ringgit movement.

Market Rally Takes a Breather

US: Wall Street snapped its winning streak as the reverberations of President Trump’s trade war jolted the greenback and threatened to disrupt currency markets. This week, traders will focus on the Federal Reserve’s FOMC meeting, alongside quarterly earnings from Walt Disney, AMD, and Palantir. While Ford beat estimates, its outlook remains uncertain as management suspended forward guidance. In the commodities market, Brent crude retreated below USD60/bbl before rebounding above the key level as OPEC+ prepares to increase output, while gold prices surged toward USD3,332/oz. CPO prices traded lower around RM 3,800/MT.

MY: Although overall sentiment on the Bursa may turn softer today, we expect buying opportunities to be seen within banking stocks as the Finance Index has risen c.10% from its April 9 low. Alliance Bank and Ambank could be in focus, as they have lagged behind peers despite healthy dividend yields. Meanwhile, following continuous contract wins in Johor—and with prospects of replicating this success in Penang—we believe there is a trading opportunity on ITMAX amid a downtrend line breakout. For a more conservative play, we remain positive on KPJ, as the company has minimal exposure to US tariff risks, while its solid management and brownfield expansion should provide further price support.

Technology: *ADB*, *ITMAX*, *RAMSSOL*
Financial: *KENANGA*, RHBBANK

Good Morning All,
Here’s our IPO note on ECO-Shop Marketing Berhad: Your Trusted Guide to Global Trading | Malacca Securities (mplusonline.com)

We ascribe a fair value of RM1.40 for Eco-Shop. Our fair value is derived by pegging a forward P/E of 35.0x to the FY26f EPS of 3.99 sen, implying a 15.7% upside from its IPO price of RM1.21. We believe the assigned P/E of 35.0x is justified, as the average P/E and forward P/E of its closest peers range between 25.5-39.4x. The valuation also reflects Eco-Shop’s strong business moat, evidenced by its SSSG performance.

Investment highlights include:
(i) A leading dollar store retailer
(ii) Rapid outlet expansion, new ~350 stores over the next five years
(iii) Same Store Sales Growth (SSSG) trending positively
(iv) Self-reinforcing moat

Good Morning All,

Here’s our technical buy report on ITMAX System Berhad: Your Trusted Guide to Global Trading | Malacca Securities (mplusonline.com)

After forming a bullish engulfing pattern at the 3.63 support, the stock broke out of a triangle pattern on healthy volume, signalling bullish momentum—poised to test the immediate resistance at RM4.10, with our target profit at RM4.18. A drop below 3.55 would negate the breakout and suggest further downside move.

Trading catalyst include:
(i) A continuous contract wins Johot
(ii) Growing recurring income base
(iii) To reflect its Johor success in Penang

AI Theme Could Regain Momentum

US: Wall Street ended mostly higher, with the Greenback rising and treasury yield falling, despite Jerome Powell addressed ongoing concerns about slowing economic growth and sticky inflation amid rising trade tensions. Traders will closely monitor China’s CPI and PPI data, while focusing on the recent development in trade policies to position themselves strategically. We expect the AI theme to regain momentum following the Trump administration’s plans to revise a set of chip trade restrictions called the “AI diffusion” rule. In commodities, both Brent crude and gold edged lower, nearing USD60/bbl and USD3,375/oz respectively. Meanwhile, CPO prices continued to trade below RM3,800/MT.

MY: Following strong earnings releases from MRDIY and the ringgit’s appreciation over 6% since its April 9 low, we see trading opportunities in Consumer Products & Services heavyweights—a defensive play—with key focus on MRDIY, 99SMART and ECOSHOP (upcoming IPO). Given the Nvidia’s positive moves amid potential revision to chip trade restrictions, buying interest should return locally, particularly in the Technology sector. Lastly, we favour ReachTen for its recurring income base (~90% of topline) and decent margins.
