To protect your household:
✔️ Do not dry food on bare ground.
✔️ Keep food away from areas accessible to rodents.
✔️ Store food in clean, tightly covered containers.
✔️ Keep food preparation and storage areas clean.

Prevent Lassa fever.

In Week 35 and 36 of 2026, Nigeria recorded decreased Lassa fever activity.

In Week 35, a total of 205 new suspected cases were reported, along with 18 new confirmed cases and 5 new confirmed death.

In Week 36, 153 new suspected cases, 12 confirmed cases and 1 confirmed death was recorded, with cases reported across 24 states and 118 Local Government Areas (LGAs).

While the number of confirmed cases seems to fluctuate, the continued detection of cases and deaths reinforces the need for constant vigilance, early detection and prompt response.

Everyone has a role to play in preventing Lassa fever.

Protect yourself and keep your environment clean.

Do not ignore persistent fever.

If you have been treated for malaria but your fever is not improving, return promptly to a healthcare facility for further assessment.

Do not wait until you become seriously ill.
