What has NTUSU done to improve the campus transportation system?

NTUSU and Housing and Auxiliary Services (HAS) have been consistently working together to improve the transportation services on campus. Such efforts include:

- Review of NTU’s Campus Transport System for changes to be implemented to the system (i.e adding more buses, improving the quality of service, reducing bunching and increasing information)
- Express shuttle bus services to alleviate hotspots
- Regular meetings with HAS and presentation of feedback on campus transportation from students
- Daily analysis and monitoring to alleviate bunching of buses
- Additional sanitation measures (i.e daily disinfecting) for shuttle buses, in light of the COVID-19 situation

It is an ongoing effort between NTUSU and HAS to improve the transportation services on campus, thus we hope to seek your understanding and patience in this matter.

For the full Transport Services Report, visit our website www.ntusu.org or our Instagram (@ntu.su) for the highlights.

A united effort: You asked, we listened.

NTUSU has been listening to all your concerns and feedback. As students, we fully understand your concerns and challenges from the examinations changes in light of the COVID-19 situation.

Following the Examination Feedback Form where we welcomed your concerns and feedback, we have raised the possibility of the Satisfactory/Unsatisfactory (S/U) option to be used this semester to the senior management during our weekly meetings.

New changes as of 25 March 2020:
- The S/U option can be used for all undergraduate courses in AY19/20 Semester
- Options used in this semester will not be counted towards the quota for student's S/U for the entire candidature

Union is here to help
We are glad that learning is prioritised over grades. We would like to thank students for sharing their concerns with us and the school for listening to our feedback and helping us ensure that the welfare and health of our students is of utmost priority.

Should you have further questions regarding the changes, we encourage you to send in your queries regarding specific modules to your course coordinators, and generic queries to su-feedback@e.ntu.edu.sg.

NTUSU will continue to provide regular updates to inform students and amplify your voices.

What does this semester's S/U Option mean for me?

Clarifications
With the recent announcement of S/U option, we understand that there are several queries.

This is dependent on your course and specialisation.

We suggest the following:
1. Send your queries to your academic club
2. SU will work closely with your academic club to address concerns
3. Follow our channels for updates

False information
We understand there are several unconfirmed and false information being circulated. We kindly request for students to avoid making assumptions and spreading such messages, and to only obtain your news from reliable sources (e.g eDMs from school officials, NTUSU platforms).

We will continue to update you as we work to clarify your questions with respective stakeholders.

Removal of chairs in canteens
NTUSU understands that all canteens have had chairs removed to prevent students from dining at the canteens effective this afternoon.

To our understanding, this decision was made following NEA’s inspection of NTU canteens earlier this morning and is part of social distancing efforts to ensure the health and safety of all Union Members and the NTU community.

As fellow students, we comprehend the inconveniences this measure may bring. NTUSU had not been consulted on this implementation, but recognises that these measures were made with the best intentions to achieve social distancing purposes. We are currently working with HAS to mitigate issues that have stemmed from these changes.

In the meantime, we thank students for your understanding and cooperation on this matter. We encourage students to continue practicing social responsibility, and support social distancing measures across all activities. Should you have any concerns, please write to us at su-feedback@e.ntu.edu.sg.

Should I exercise my S/U option?

The University has implemented a one-off S/U option for all courses in light of the COVID-19 situation. NTUSU would like to encourage students to continue trying their best and studying hard.

If you are planning to exercise the S/U Option this semester, here are some considerations before making your decision.

Minimum Graded AUs (inclusive of all courses i.e Core, Major PE and GER Cores)

- Three-year courses: 52 AUs
- Four-year courses/direct year two courses: 69AUs
- Double Degree: Minimum AU of graded courses to be obtained is the same as its corresponding single degree programme
- More details on Section 2.4 of AUS Handbook here

Prerequisite and GER-Core Electives
- Prerequisite: Check with your respective faculties if exercising the S/U Option on prerequisite electives will affect future electives
- GER-Core: Check with your professors/course coordinators if you are allowed to exercise the S/U Option on GER-Core electives
*These vary across the different schools/courses

Final Year Projects
- S/U Option cannot be exercised on Final Year Projects

How to exercise the S/U Option?
- A student will receive AU towards his degree only if he attains an ‘S’ (Satisfactory) grade. He earns no AU for courses with a 'U' grade
- You may declare here if you would like to exercise the S/U Option
- Deadline: Sunday, 12 May 2020, 10pm

For more details on minimum AU requirements and academic matters, please refer to the AUS Handbook 2019/20 here.

NTUSU supports all students: Aid for students affected by trip suspension

NTUSU understands the challenges faced by students who had their overseas programmes suspended in view of the COVID-19 situation. We have been working closely with the University Management to ensure that these students are equitably supported.

1. Reimbursements
- Upon taking NTUSU's feedback into consideration, the University will be reviewing claims of students regarding additional essential expenses incurred due to having to cut short their overseas programme (i.e costs for change in flight bookings or cancellation fees, visa fees, and accommodation)
- Procedures and FAQs will be provided shortly

2. Academic
- Arrangements will be made for students who are unable to complete credit transfer due to the trip suspension
- Students are advised to review study plans with their faculties and explore possible course options for special terms and AY20/21 Semester
- This is to cushion the impact of the disruption and prevent delay in graduation
