DOG BITE? DON’T JUST WASH IT AND FORGET IT.
A small wound can still mean infection + tetanus + rabies risk.
🧠 NURSE BRAIN QUICK GUIDE:
Wound care → infection assessment → tetanus status → rabies risk assessment → follow-up.
⚠️ Vaccine schedules and antibiotic decisions depend on the wound, vaccination history, exposure and local protocol.
Save this. You may need it later. 🩺

🤰🏽 SEX DURING PREGNANCY — SAFE OR NOT?
In a normal, low-risk pregnancy, sex is generally safe.
The baby is protected by the uterus, amniotic sac/fluid and cervix.
But don't fall for the internet myth that sex automatically makes the baby healthier or will "bring on labour."
Orgasm can cause temporary uterine contractions, and semen contains prostaglandins — but studies have not shown that sex reliably induces labour at term.
🚨 Think PELVIC REST / CLINICAL REVIEW when there is:
• Placenta previa
• Unexplained vaginal bleeding
• Ruptured membranes/PPROM
• Preterm labour or significant preterm-birth risk
• Certain cervical conditions/cerclage
• Specific instructions from the obstetric team
Frontliner pearl: Don't laugh when a pregnant woman asks about sex.
Assess. Identify contraindications. Reassure. Educate.
Pregnancy ≠ automatic abstinence.
But "pregnancy = sex is always safe" is also wrong.
Context matters. 🩺 #Nursing #Obstetrics #AntenatalCare #MedicalEducation

Hemodialysis vs. Peritoneal Dialysis

Both help remove waste + excess fluid when the kidneys can’t do it effectively, but they work a little differently!

🩸 Hemodialysis: Blood leaves the body, travels through a dialysis machine to be filtered, then returns to the body. An AV fistula or graft is commonly used for long-term access.

⭐️Assess the access for a thrill + bruit, and avoid BP, IVs, or blood draws in the access arm.

💧Peritoneal Dialysis: Dialysate is infused into the abdomen, where the peritoneal membrane acts as the filter. The fluid is then drained through a peritoneal catheter.
