Hey Everyone!

This Friday, we have invited Venerable Jian Xin to share on the topic, β€œHelping Others Through Buddhism”.

Venerable Jian Xin pursued Sociology during her undergraduate studies at NUS. She also holds a Master’s Degree in Buddhist Studies from the University of London, England. Being ordained under the Mahayana tradition, Venerable Jian Xin has made aspirations to walk the Bodhisattva Path since she was 15.

Very often, Buddhists shy away from sharing more about their religion. The teachings of the Buddha have not been encountered by most. Those who have encountered it are embarrassed or are unsure what to share. Therefore, this topic is meant to answer, what then as Buddhists can we do to help others?

The details are as follows:

Venue: Zoom
Time: 1900

Hey everyone!

Yesterday Venerable Jian Xin shared on the topic, β€œAnimals live to eat. What do you live for?”

This is an article that she had once written detailing the events that led to her discovering her purpose in life. It also covers some of the key points in her sharing yesterday! We hope that you may be inspired!

Have a great week ahead!:)

Hey everyone!

This week, our Dhamma Talks will continue with the topic β€œBuddha Nature: Are we Buddhas?” We have invited Venerable Chuan Guan to guide us in the exploration of this exciting topic!

The Buddha Nature, seems to suggest the path of cultivation to be one of self-discovery. To find that inherent goodness within oneself. Yet, as one practises, the Buddha Nature seems to be in contradiction with the Buddhist teaching of non-self... Join us this Friday as we explore further, what is the goal of our cultivation!

Venerable Chuan Guan was ordained under the Mahayana Tradition by Master Miu King. However, he studies the canonical teachings from the Pali Canon. Therefore he often provide views into the various nuances when it comes to Buddhism.

Thank you everyone for joining us today! The Buddha Nature is a topic that Buddhists have some understanding about, but very superficial and can perhaps create obstacles for some! Let us keep practising, with a little bit more knowledge. May everyone have a good weekend! :)
