Join Sister Marn Wong from Amitabha Buddhist Centre to engage in deep reflection and interactive discussion on this topic. Uncover how a vast and profound sense of gratitude is integral to fulfilling our goals and bringing happiness to ourselves and others. Learn practical ways to cultivate gratitude from both the secular literature and Buddhist tradition.

This week, the NUS Buddhist Society is inviting Brother Piya Tan. We are excited to have him share his insightful analysis and guide us through a session of sutta studies, given his extensive understanding.

Piya Tan was a consultant and lecturer to the Buddhist Studies Team for Secondary Schools under the Ministry of Education. He was invited to join the team when available Buddhist textbooks were deemed by the Cambridge Examinations Syndicate as unsuitable for examination purposes. He presented his Integrated Syllabus to the Buddhist Studies Team, and working closely with the Project Director, Dr. Ang Beng Choo, they succeeded in making Buddhist Studies the most popular and successful of the Religious Studies subjects. The other important contribution Piya made to Singapore Buddhism in the 1980s was that he used his teachings and courses to successfully unify the Buddhist youth groups of Singapore into a fellowship network.

This session will be held on 20 March (Wednesday) from 7.15 to 9PM.
The venue is at: Town Plaza, Seminar Room 1 UT22-02-04A

Building on the past popularity of the Art and Buddhism theme, the NUS Buddhist Society is reintroducing this subject with a fresh perspective. We are honored to present Brother Guan Fan as our esteemed guest speaker, who will delve into this topic and share insightful perspectives with participants. Join us for an enlightening session as Brother Guan Fan brings a renewed exploration of the intersection between art and Buddhist philosophy.

Guan Fan is a masters student in History here at the National University of Singapore (NUS). He values interdisciplinary exploration, with particular interests in diasporas, religions, art history, and material culture. Guan Fan was one of the four panel speakers at the New Work in Chinese Buddhist Studies. He recovers the overlooked artistry of migrant Chinese-Buddhist monk Chuk Mor (η«Ίζ‘©, 1913–2002) who has primarily been studied and widely respected for his promotion of modern Buddhism in maritime Southeast Asia.

He is presently offering his research assistance and volunteering work in the spheres of art, religions, and Chinese communities.

This session will be held on 27 March (Wednesday) from 7.15 to 9PM.

The venue is at: Town Plaza, Seminar room 8 (UT-22-02-03D)
