Hey everyone,

Last Friday, we had our session on Discipline and this is a brief summary of the talking points during the session. Of course, it is not exhaustive. We hope that you’ll have a read and get a better understanding of one of the most basic but pertinent aspects to Buddhism.

The Homework will be to undertake and abide by the 5 Precepts for a day, while being mindful of our own speech and actions.

We hope to see you for Patience on this upcoming Friday! Until then, may you be well and happy always!:)
Hey Everyone!

This Friday we will be continuing with the 4th Paramita, Diligence. The first 3 Paramita focuses on what we should do, what we should not do, and how to avoid transgressions. Diligence comes in as the next part of this series, to ensure that we keep ourselves in this momentum.

Diligence is the perfection to keep working and never ceasing. Through which, we can prevent ourselves from laziness and retrogression, as we tread the path of the Dhamma. By engaging in the practice of the earlier Paramis diligently, we can continue to sharpen our minds, and generate better concentration. This one-pointedness of the mind, when directed upon the Dhamma, can allow us to attain wisdom.

Until we meet again on Friday, stay happy and joyful always! May you find success in all that you endeavour in this new week ahead.
Hey everyone!

This is a summary of the session last Friday, regarding the Paramita of Patience.

Patience directed towards defilements can allow one to embrace all situations be it pleasant or unpleasant. Unpleasant conditions are causes for one to fight the defilement of anger, while pleasant conditions are causes for one to fight the defilement of greed. Do not let the unpleasant conditions affect your state of mind, instead channel mindfulness to influence how we view these conditions.

Take note of the homework at the end of the notes. If you have any questions, you may contact Venerable Chuan Guan directly at wakeupnow@gmail.com.

Until next time, may you be well and happy always!
Hello Everyone!
This Friday, we will be exploring the 5th of the 6 Paramitas, Concentration.

The cultivation of Concentration is pertinent in the Buddhist context. Through the mindfulness over one’s Body and Speech, eventually, one can tame the mind. This gives rise to concentration, or the one-pointedness of the mind. With this concentration, one can direct it upon any object of interest, and develop greater insight and wisdom.

We hope to see you on Friday, as we continue to tread this spiritual journey together. May you have a fruitful and joyful week ahead!
Hey everyone,

This is a summary of last Friday’s Session on Diligence.

Practise diligently and skilfully. This is guided through the 4 Right Efforts, to abandon the arisen unwholesome thoughts, to prevent the unarisen unwholesome thoughts. To arise the unarisen wholesome thoughts and grow arisen wholesome thoughts.

We hope that you’ll find the summary useful. Until we meet again on Friday, may the rest of the your week be in the favour of all your endeavours.
To become one with our breath, δΊΊζ―ε’ŒδΈ€

Hope everyone learnt something new from the Concentration talk as we cultivated alongside our spiritual friends. Here is out group photo from yesterday.

Do join our next week for the session on Wisdom. Be on the lookout for the session summaries and to find out more about our next session!
Hey everyone,

This week we will be covering the last of the 6 Paramitas, Wisdom.

Through the development of Concentration, and the timing of the mind, Wisdom arises. With Wisdom, we can identify the true nature of all phenomena and be liberated from Suffering. Wisdom is the true key to the cessation of Suffering.

Until, we meet again, may you have a good break and a beautiful week ahead!

Venerable Chuan Guan was ordained by Master Miu King in 2002 and began his monastic training in Fa Yun Monastery(New Mexico, United States). He learned the suttas and practised meditation under the Mahayana Buddhist Tradition while studying the Theravadin Pali Canon.
Hey Everyone!

This is a summary of the session on Concentration. We hope that it will guide you in your meditation and to practise your mindfulness.

Until we meet again on Friday, May you be happy and well!
Hey everyone!

As we finally conclude the 6 Paramita Series, we realised that there many questions that you all have during the session. Of course, due to the time constraint, there wasn’t much time to ask these questions.

This is the time to ask these questions!!!! We hope that you can use this opportunity to clarify your doubts about the Series, about Buddhism in general or any heart-burning questions you have.

As we move towards the end of the semester, we wish you success in your revision and wellness if your health. May your endeavours be consistent and fruitful!
