Hey Everyone!!

Happy 2020!! We are going to continue sharing some information regarding the speakers for the workshop on the 10/11 Jan.

For the Tibetan Vajrayana Tradition, we have invited Venerable Tenzin Drachom, to be the guest speaker. Venerable Drachom served for 31 years in the Singapore Armed Forces in the Commando Formation and retired as a Lieutenant Colonel, before his ordination.

He received his getsul vows in Dharamsala, India in September 2013 and his gelong vows from His Holiness the Dalai Lama in March 2017. Venerable has served in the Amitabbha Buddhist Centre Executive Committee since 1995. He has completed the FPMT Basic Program. Presently, as an FPMT registered teacher, he has been tasked by Lama Zopa Rinpoche to offer Dhamma teachings overseas.

During the workshop, Venerable Drachom will be sharing a little bit more about Tibetan Buddhism. He will also be guiding us for Glance Meditation. This is a type of meditation, that takes a step back, to review the teachings of the Buddha as an entirety, without diving too deep and dwelling into any particular teaching. This provides an overview and structuring to the teachings of the Buddha. We hope that you can come down and experience it for yourself.

Hey Everyone!!

We are excited to share with you, the series of Dhamma Talks this semester!!

The **4 Noble Truths**are part of the core teachings to Buddhism. Prior to his Enlightenment, Prince Siddhattha Gotama, identified the imperfections and unsatisfactory nature of life, that all beings have to undergo sickness, aging and death. At age 29, he left home to find the cause to these sufferings and the way to end this. At 35, he attained enlightenment, and discovered the path to the cessation of Suffering.

We have invited Venerable Shi Chuan Guan to lead us in this series. He practised meditation under the Mahayana Tradition, while studying the Pali Canon.

The Four Noble Truth Series will start on 31st Jan from 1800. Note that there will be vegetarian dinner provided during the session.

With this, we hope that you can seize this opportunity to find out more about Buddhism!

Finally, we wish you a pleasant week ahead and a joyous reunion amongst family and friends!

Hey everyone!

This Friday, we will be starting our Dhamma Talk Series โ€œThe Four Noble Truthsโ€.

The first session starts with โ€œDukkha: The Truth of Sufferingโ€,which explores what Suffering is about. It is possible for one to be physically unwell and be free from suffering.
Often, the notion of Suffering can seem pessimistic and unpopular. However, the core of the 4 Noble Truths, is in fact the pursuit of happiness, complete and everlasting.

We have invited Venerable Shi Chuan Guan to lead us in this series. Ven. CG was ordained in Fa Yun Monastery(USA) under Master Miu King. He practised meditation under the Mahayana Tradition, while studying the Pali Canon.

The session will take place on 31st January, Friday, from 1800. It will be located at University Sports Centre, Conference Room. Vegetarian dinner will be provided.

Finally, given the ongoing Novel Coronavirus, we wish that all will be well, happy and peaceful. Stay safe and may you be free from suffering.

Hey everyone!

Here are the notes, that have been compiled in relation to last Fridayโ€™s Dhamma Talk! We hope that you can benefit from these set of notes. It covers the life story of the Buddha, his motivation towards cultivating, the knowledge which he attained as well as the different manifestations of Dukkha.

May all cultivate with diligence and discipline, and in doing so, may concentration and peace arise. Abiding in peace, may all attain wisdom necessary for final liberation.
