Building on the past popularity of the Art and Buddhism theme, the NUS Buddhist Society is reintroducing this subject with a fresh perspective. We are honored to present Brother Guan Fan as our esteemed guest speaker, who will delve into this topic and share insightful perspectives with participants. Join us for an enlightening session as Brother Guan Fan brings a renewed exploration of the intersection between art and Buddhist philosophy.
Guan Fan is a masters student in History here at the National University of Singapore (NUS). He values interdisciplinary exploration, with particular interests in diasporas, religions, art history, and material culture. Guan Fan was one of the four panel speakers at the New Work in Chinese Buddhist Studies. He recovers the overlooked artistry of migrant Chinese-Buddhist monk Chuk Mor (η«Ίζ©, 1913β2002) who has primarily been studied and widely respected for his promotion of modern Buddhism in maritime Southeast Asia.
He is presently offering his research assistance and volunteering work in the spheres of art, religions, and Chinese communities.
This session will be held on 27 March (Wednesday) from 7.15 to 9PM.
The venue is at: Town Plaza, Seminar room 8 (UT-22-02-03D)
Interested participants please RSVP for the session via the following link: https://nus.campuslabs.com/engage/event/10018474
