Aren’t libraries supposed to just shelve books? 📚

That may be a function of a library, but not its purpose: to connect communities and ensure equitable access to knowledge.

The Temasek Foundation-NUS Heritage Champions Showcase held by NUS Libraries on 5 Sep spotlighted 10 student-led projects documenting Singapore’s lesser-known history, from the ice cream hawker trade to Singapore’s Southern Island communities.

When AI can answer questions, who asks the right question?

At the third NUS Lifelong Learning Festival on 28 Sep, educators and industry leaders emphasised the increasing premium on human expertise and judgement with better AI.

They also highlighted how universities must evolve into lifelong learning institutions, and that employees should rethink the "career ladder" for "career optionality".

Two NUS faculty members, recently honoured as exemplary educators, shared their teaching philosophies at the University Teaching Award Ceremony and Outstanding Educator Award Public Lectures 2026.

If you fail to learn, then I have failed to teach.

🔎 CDE Assoc Prof Stephen Tay's CLEAR (Contextualised Learning via Enquiring, Answering, and Reflecting) pedagogy, which encourages curiosity and critical thinking, has been adopted across Singapore and five other countries.

You cannot make a wise critical judgement if your mindset is closed off.

🎭 FASS Assoc Prof Robin Loon's theatre and community engagement course features role play, process drama and community observation, as he believes that education should nurture character and not just impart knowledge.
