In the esthetic zone, implant placement is not always the first step.

In this clinical case by Ricardo Kern, a significant horizontal and vertical tissue deficiency required a very different treatment sequence: first, hard- and soft-tissue reconstruction, followed by 8 months of healing, and only then implant placement using a surgical guide.

❓Why was it important to perform the reconstruction in stages?
❓How can the reconstructed soft-tissue volume be preserved during implant placement?
❓And what role did the provisional restoration play in the final outcome?

πŸ“Œ In the slides, we break down Ricardo Kern’s case step by step β€” from the initial tissue deficiency to immediate provisionalization.

On November 16–17 in Budapest, Ricardo Kern will lead an event dedicated to soft-tissue management around implants, with a focus on the clinical decisions that determine the stability and esthetics of peri-implant tissues.

Recession. Insufficient tissue volume. An unnatural contour. Compromised esthetics.

Even a perfectly positioned implant cannot guarantee an ideal outcome if the soft tissues do not provide the right conditions.

How can you increase soft-tissue volume? Which technique should you choose for a specific clinical situation? How do you manage the graft and shape the tissue contour so that the result looks natural not only immediately after treatment, but over time?

πŸ“ On November 16–17, 2026, in Budapest, Ricardo Kern will lead the hands-on course
β€œSoft Tissue Management Around Implants.”

Over two days, participants will explore the entire pathway to a stable, esthetic outcome β€” from immediate implant placement and loading to the development of a biologically driven emergence profile and prosthetic management in the esthetic zone.

And a major focus of the course will be hands-on training.

Under Ricardo Kern’s guidance, you will practice:

πŸ”΅ VIP-CTG β€” Vascularized Interpositional Periosteal-Connective Tissue Graft technique
πŸ”΅ SMILE technique
πŸ”΅ Table-Top technique for connective tissue graft harvesting
πŸ”΅ CAF and T-CAF β€” Coronally Advanced Flap and the tunneling approach

AI is already transforming orthodontics β€” the question is how effectively you’re using it in your daily practiceπŸ€–πŸ¦·

In his new course, Dr. Giorgio Comola will show you how to integrate AI and digital tools into your everyday workflow β€” from diagnostics and clear aligner treatment to interdisciplinary cases and more effective patient communication.

Less guesswork, more structured protocols and practical solutions you can apply in your clinic✨

Limited mouth opening is a clinical sign, not a diagnosis. The same complaint can result from very different mechanisms β€” from a protective muscular response to an intracapsular restriction.

πŸ” That is why it is important to assess not only how many millimeters the patient can open their mouth, but also how the restriction developed, what happens during slow opening, whether muscle pain is present, and how the mandible moves.

For example, with protective co-contraction, the range of motion may increase during slow opening. In contrast, disc displacement without reduction (closed lock) creates a mechanical restriction that prevents normal condylar translation.

πŸ“š In the carousel, we present a step-by-step differential diagnostic algorithm based on Jeffrey P. Okeson’s Management of Temporomandibular Disorders and Occlusion.

πŸ‡¦πŸ‡ͺ On December 4–5 in Dubai, Jeffrey Okeson will present his diagnostic and treatment protocols for temporomandibular disorders (TMDs) and orofacial pain, updated for 2026.

For the First Time in Dubai: Jeffrey Okeson’s Updated 2026 Protocols πŸ”¬

Approaches to the diagnosis and management of temporomandibular disorders (TMDs) and orofacial pain continue to evolve as new scientific and clinical evidence emerges.

πŸ“ On December 4–5 in Dubai, Jeffrey Okeson will present his diagnostic and treatment protocols updated for 2026.

During the seminar, you will explore:

πŸ”΅ differential diagnosis of TMDs and other causes of facial pain
πŸ”΅ treatment protocols for muscle pain and intracapsular disorders
πŸ”΅ selection, fabrication, and clinical use of occlusal appliances
πŸ”΅ patient management following occlusal appliance therapy
πŸ”΅ diagnosis and management of non-odontogenic tooth pain
πŸ”΅ criteria for referring patients to other specialists

Three days in Warsaw we definitely won’t forget 🦷

Giorgio Fiorelli’s course had everything we love:
plenty of hands-on practice, lively discussions, questions along the way, and the chance to put the mechanics into practice right away.

No dry theory β€” just real clinical cases, clear explanations, and those moments when complex biomechanics finally starts to make sense.

Even a familiar technique doesn’t always deliver the same predictable result 🀯

Often, the key decisions are made before surgery: interproximal support, CEJ position, tissue thickness, local anatomy, and whether the flap can be advanced without tension.

πŸ“Œ In the carousel, we’ve put together 5 mistakes that can reduce the predictability of root coverage, based on Giovanni Zucchelli’s work.

Think of it as a short practical checklist for treatment planning.

Swipe through the slides for the key steps, diagrams, and points worth checking before surgery.

πŸ“ By the way, Giovanni Zucchelli is coming to Bologna on November 15–17, 2027.

Giovanni Zucchelli in Bologna β€” three days dedicated to soft tissue surgery with one of the leading experts in the field 🦷

Throughout the course, Zucchelli will focus on clinical decision-making: how to assess each case, predict the outcome, and select the most appropriate technique for a specific clinical situation.

Over three days, we’ll cover:

πŸ”΅ Single and multiple gingival recessions β€” CAF, bilaminar techniques, CTG, and collagen matrices
πŸ”΅ Management of non-carious cervical lesions associated with gingival recessions
πŸ”΅ Soft tissue management around implants: volume deficiencies, recessions, and keratinized tissue augmentation
πŸ”΅ Soft tissue protocols for immediate and delayed implant placement

The course will also include step-by-step surgical videos, followed by a full day of hands-on training on pig jaws and clinical case discussions πŸ™Œ
