About 7 years ago, while I was still based at the time in Abeokuta as a Masters Students in Computer science, my mentor shared the flyer of an event taking place at the University of Lagos.
It was a summit with many high profile individuals in governance, business, entertainment, religion, among others.
As a Postgraduate student who was still making do with the few available resources, it was going to be challenge to attend.
Well, who knows, this may be a turning point needed and a shift to the next level I sought.
I was more compelled by the fact that I would be able to see someone I wanted to build a close connect to.
I paid the price to attend and was amazed by how a young man could raise a team that convened over 1000 participants in a room.
Like they say, seeing is believing and believing aids replicating.
I connected with him, took pictures and got an appointment to his abode for a close interaction.
That event and more made a remarkable shift in my belief and positioning for influence.
It would have been fine to link up virtually, yet, I would have missed the strategic connections I made and still have today.
In the journey of influence, knowledge is not enough in giving you an escape velocity leverage.
You also need to be at certain places and with certain people.
The problem is you can visit the places and lack the leverage because you don't know what to do.
In the third part session on leveraging the tools for growth and influence series, I will be sharing the role of places amidst other things in advancing your journey for influence.
Certain experiences you see in others appear like a miracle until you recognize the little things that birth the great things you see.

Many are trapped, not for the lack of courage, talent, or knowledge, but for the lack of courage to set boundaries.
Some have been guilt-tripped many times into actions they later regretted.
Very few people deserve the front-row access to your life.
You must learn the wisdom of selective association if you want to correctly manage the voices that drive your destiny decisions.
While waking up early, writing goals, and practicing routines are good for building mastery, they are insufficient for personal sovereignty.
Despite being essential for starting the journey, you will need more to dominante.
Dominion also requires discerning correctly your relationships.
Some need the permission to shape your path, while others don't.
