Vitalik Buterin today mentioned RAILGUN as an example of a privacy protocol people could use on Ethereum.

Your tokens or others never "go to RAILGUN"
Tokens never go " To RAILGUN"
- they go to an individual 0zk address.

Going "to RAILGUN" is just how it looks if people use a block explorers' app because those explorers can't explore 0zk addresses.
It's a limitation of explorers.

So, the tokens are actually just in an invisible address.
Every Ethereum address has a 0zk address, it's just as big as the entire Ethereum network.

Just because the explorer can't see it, doesn't mean it doesn't exist. You can see it if you are the user.
Anyone with your view key can see it too, actually. 💁

But as this system is new it's up to us to educate the professionals in the storage to not rely on their old understanding of block explorers and over-reliance

All Ethereum private keys can generate a 0zk address. This means that the anonymity set of RAILGUN is vast. Consider this, User A shields funds to their 0zk address and sends them to User B's 0zk address. User B can use those tokens and enjoy full privacy, all without their 0x address ever interacting with a RAILGUN smart contract.

There are approximately 2^256 possible private keys for RAILGUN, each of which could be an active address.
