Yet here he was, for the first time in his life, he called me and asked how to arrive at a Perfect decision in his career. He knew that I handled a lot of career-related questions from students.
I was very happy to answer him. After all, he was my childhood competition, he competed with me, and today first time he sought help. So here is what I told him:
1.) Watch your #career in chunks of 10 Years of time
2.) If you want to grow 1x, you have to just do what others do, follow the #herd, and get #mediocre #results.
3.) If you want to grow 2X, then you have to #compete with others; you will always set #goals slightly higher than others and try to accomplish them.
He laughed and exclaimed: thats what I did all my life. I resumed guiding him:
4.) If you want to #grow 10X in the next 10 years, then #network, #Collaborate, reach out to people, help them, and they will help you back. The ratio is 1:100 and 1:1000. If you help 100 people, one of them will meaningfully help you back. If you help 1000 people, one of them will meaningfully come back and contribute to your life in a significant way.
5.) If you want to grow 100X in the next 10 years, then you have to follow step 4 and also ensure that you #blur the thin line between whatโs #work and whatโs #enjoyment. You will have to be a master of living a life where there is no distinction between work and play, labor and leisure, and pursue your vision of excellence. Passion has to be your Fashion.
Whatever you do, You will always be a Soldier on a Mission; Aim is not to grow your Kill power but to grow your Will power.
