📄Excerpts from the Concept of the Foreign Policy of the Russian Federation
Regional tracks of the foreign policy of Russia: European region
❗️Most European states pursue an aggressive policy toward Russia aimed at creating threats to the security & sovereignty of Russia, gaining unilateral economic advantages, undermining domestic political stability & eroding traditional Russian spiritual & moral values, & creating obstacles to Russia's cooperation with allies & partners.
☝️Russia intends to consistently defend its national interests by giving priority attention to:
1) reducing & neutralizing threats to security, territorial integrity, sovereignty, traditional spiritual & moral values, & socio-economic development of Russia, its allies & partners from unfriendly European states, #NATO, the EU & the Council of Europe
2) creating conditions for the cessation of unfriendly actions by European states & their associations <...> & for their transition to a long-term policy of good-neighbourliness & mutually beneficial cooperation with Russia
3) the formation of a new model of coexistence by European states to ensure the safe, sovereign & progressive development of Russia, its allies & partners, & durable peace in the European part of Eurasia, taking into account the potential of multilateral formats, including the #OSCE.
Objective prerequisites for the formation of a new model of coexistence with European states are geographical proximity, historically developed deep cultural, humanitarian & economic ties of the peoples & states of the European part of Eurasia. The main factor complicating the normalization of relations between Russia & European states is the strategic course of the USA & their individual allies to draw & deepen dividing lines in the European region.
❗️The realization by the states of Europe that there is no alternative to peaceful coexistence & mutually beneficial equal cooperation with Russia <...> will have a positive effect on the security & welfare of the European region.

#Danmark #NATO #Rusland #Bornholm

🎙️Russian Ambassador to Denmark Vladimir Barbin's interview with "Izvestia" newspaper (January 12, 2026)
#NATO #Arctic
• The NATO bloc is not set up for dialogue, but for military confrontation and rivalry with Russia, including in the Arctic. There is a steady increase in the military activity of NATO in the region, both at sea, on land, and in the airspace, including the armed forces of such alliance countries as France, Germany, and the United Kingdom, far from the Arctic. Denmark plays an initiative role in inviting NATO states to the Arctic.
• Interest in the Arctic is driven by its growing strategic importance. Instead of advancing the goals of developing mutually beneficial international cooperation in high latitudes, the attention of these countries is focused on military aspects. Such one-sidedness of Western priorities has a detrimental effect on the situation in the Arctic.
#ArcticCouncil
• Denmark assumed the chairmanship of the Arctic Council in May 2025. However, Copenhagen doesn't intend to achieve breakthrough positive changes in the development of international cooperation under the auspices of the Arctic Council.
• The disappointing state of affairs in the Arctic Council is the choice of our neighbors in the region, who refused to cooperate with our country. As a result, the region's common challenges in the field of ecology, the effects of climate change, the conservation of biodiversity and the sustainable development of economic and transport potential remain without a proper joint response from the Arctic states.
• Our neighbors are beginning to understand that Russia's participation in international Arctic cooperation is essential and indispensable. However, there are no signs that they are ready to restore full-fledged cooperation with our country. <...>
#Greenland
• Denmark states that international security considerations cannot serve as grounds for annexing the island and demands that the United States respect the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Danish kingdom.
• Upon that, Denmark continues to view the United States as a guarantor of its security and strives to maintain cooperation and trust in bilateral relations. <...>
• Greenland, for its part, strives for independence and states that it does not want to remain part of the Danish Kingdom or become part of the United States in the future. At the same time, Greenland is interested in the closest relations with the United States, especially in American investments necessary for the sustainability of the island's economy.
• The recently updated US national security strategy, in fact, revives the Monroe doctrine, which supposedly assumes US responsibility for the situation in the Western Hemisphere. In practice, this means that Greenland is considered to be within the sphere of US interest. Therefore, it will be difficult to avoid tensions between US ambitions, Greenland's desire for independence and Denmark's sovereignty over this Arctic island.

🎙 Answers by President of Russia Vladimir Putin to media questions following his working visit to Kyrgyzstan (Bishkek, September 1, 2026)
Key points:
#RussiaUS
• Contacts between Russia and the US have always existed, even during the most difficult periods of the Cold War, and they continue today.
• Direct contacts are maintained between the Heads of the intelligence services. Quite recently, we returned a US citizen to the American Side who had been serving a prison sentence in Russia.
• We are absolutely comfortable working with people we know well and generally trust. They are close to President Trump, sincere people who are trying to give our work concrete substance. And President Trump trusts them, which is very important. Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner are therefore always welcome guests in Russia, and we are pleased to work with them.
#UkrainianCrisis #NATO
• We believe that negotiations – any negotiations – should above all have concrete substance. If someone is capable of making a positive contribution to a negotiating process that is currently, to a certain extent, frozen, we have no objection. What is needed here are specialists, military experts and diplomats.
• The collective West was given a very apt description back in Soviet times – the sharks of imperialism. If anyone tries to drag us down the food chain and devour us, they may well get their teeth knocked out. Russia is ready to do that, despite the rapidly growing appetites – and teeth – of these sharks.
• Despite everything, Russian forces continue to increase the pace of their advance in the special military operation zone.
• Strikes continue against Ukrainian military facilities, industrial enterprises, ports and logistics infrastructure used in the interests of the Ukrainian armed forces – in response, as is well known, to the Kiev regime’s continuing attacks on Russian civilian infrastructure, fuel and energy facilities and oil refineries.
❗️ Any military facilities in Ukraine are legitimate targets for us – British or otherwise.
• The Russian Armed Forces have been instructed to prepare and carry out large-scale strikes against Ukraine’s energy facilities. They strike ours – they will get a response.
#Germany #Leipzig
• As for the actions of the German authorities, they are primarily driven by Germany’s domestic political situation.
• Chancellor Merz is in a difficult domestic political position and does not enjoy the confidence of his citizens. It is clear why: he is not defending Germany’s national interests, but trading them away. There are obvious economic failures – businesses are closing, people are losing their jobs and living standards are falling.
• [Germany's recent move] is yet another mistake – a serious one – and, in my view, one that clearly runs counter to the interests of the German people.
#Japan
• We have not taken a single step toward worsening Russia-Japan relations. We treated them with great care. Everything happening now in Russia-Japan relations, including their deterioration, is entirely of the Japanese government’s making.
