What I Am Looking For
I am looking for a Salafi man who is firm in his practice, performs the five daily prayers in the mosque, frequently remembers and supplicates to Allah, the Most High, and has the desire to make hijrah. He should love seeking Islamic knowledge (ṭalab al-‘ilm) and strive to implement what he learns. He should have a halal source of income and wish to raise his children in a Muslim country under the laws of Allah, the Most High.
I prefer a man who works on his personal development in all aspects. I do not seek perfection, as perfection belongs only to Allah, and we are human beings: we make mistakes and we succeed.
He should be respectful, mature, and capable of taking responsibility.
It is preferable that he speaks Arabic and wishes to learn Islamic knowledge, because it is an obligation upon us. He should help his wife obey Allah, advise her, and if he sees something blameworthy, he should change it, as the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said:
“Whoever among you sees an evil, let him change it with his hand; if he is unable, then with his tongue; and if he is unable, then with his heart — and that is the weakest level of faith.”
Reported by Muslim in his Ṣaḥīḥ.
He should also possess protective jealousy (ghayrah), because the obligatory jealousy for a man is the jealousy he feels regarding the people of his household, especially his wife, then his relatives and those under his care.
The Prophet ﷺ explained that he had more protective jealousy than the believers, that a believer experiences jealousy, and that Allah loves jealousy when it is in the presence of doubt and suspicion.
The one who has no protective jealousy is a dayyūth, and it is reported in the hadith:
“The dayyūth will not enter Paradise.”
