Report It Right: How to Submit an Effective Abuse Report in Second Life
https://community.secondlife.com/news/featured-news/report-it-right-how-to-submit-an-effective-abuse-report-in-second-life-r11327/
Abuse Reports help Linden Lab investigate conduct and content that may violate the Second Life Community Standards or Terms of Service. The most useful reports identify the correct Resident or object and clearly explain what happened. It is okay if you do not have all the information, but providing as much information as you can on a situation helps tremendously. A quick checklist for submitting an Abuse ReportMake sure your report includes: The correct Resident or object The closest available category A clear one-line summary The approximate date and time in SLT The region or location A factual description of what occurred A useful screenshot when visual evidence is available Zoom in on the reported avatar or object Make sure that the user or object profile is visible Try to highlight the reported avatar or object by selecting it in crowded areas to make it clear what is being reported For an avatar, you can do this by selecting a piece of their clothes and opening the object profile Report conduct that may violate Second Life policies - not personal disagreements, an avatar’s appearance, or content you simply dislike. Incomplete or vague reports may not provide enough information for an effective investigation. If the behavior occurs again as a separate incident, submit a new report with the new time and details. If you need to add information after submitting, file a supplemental report that explains how it relates to the earlier incident. After submission, you will receive an automated email confirmation. Investigation details and any action taken generally cannot be shared for privacy reasons, and the reporter’s identity is kept confidential. Reporting another ResidentThe quickest method is to right-click the Resident’s avatar and select Report. This opens the Abuse Report form with the Resident’s information already included. You can also: Select Help → Report Abuse from the Viewer menu. Click Choose beside Abuser name. Find the Resident using Search, Friends, or Near Me. Select the category that most closely matches the conduct. Enter a short, descriptive summary. Explain what happened in the Details field. Review the report and click Report Abuse. Example of an ideal screenshot for a report on another resident A strong report describes specific conduct rather than using general statements. Less helpful: “They were harassing me.” More helpful: “At approximately 10:40 SLT in Example Region, this Resident repeatedly shoved my avatar off the parcel after I asked them to stop.” Include the approximate time, location, actions you observed, and whether the behavior continued or happened more than once. Choose the category based on the behaviorSelect the closest available category. Examples may include: Ageplay → Ageplay for avatars engaging in “adult situations” when one or more of the avatars is visibly underage or states they are underage Assault → Shooting, pushing, or shoving another Resident in a Safe Area for someone pushing your avatar after you have told them to stop Disturbing the peace → Repetitive spam for repeated messages or advertisements Harassment → Targeted behavior intended to disrupt for behaviors that go beyond annoying and continue after you have blocked the resident An appropriate Indecency category for prohibited or improperly rated content If no category is an exact match, choose the closest one and explain the behavior clearly in the Details field. Reporting an objectWhenever possible, report the object itself rather than submit a general report against its suspected creator or owner. To report an object: Right-click the object. Select Manage → Report Abuse. Confirm that the correct object and owner appear in the report. Select the category that best describes what the object is doing. Add a

concise summary and specific details. Submit the report. Example of an ideal screenshot for reporting an object If you opened the form through Help → Report Abuse, click the object-selection button in the form and then click the abusive object inworld. Report the actual sourceSelect the object producing the particles, sounds, spam, physical pushes, or other disruptive behavior. Do not report a nearby Resident simply because the object is close to them. If you cannot identify the source of particles or sounds, use World → Show → Beacons and enable particle or sound sources. Invisible objects can be highlighted using Advanced → Highlighting and Visibility → Highlight Transparent, or Ctrl+Alt+T. Choose the category based on the behaviorSelect the closest available category. Examples may include: Disturbing the peace → Excessive scripted objects for disruptive particles or scripts Disturbing the peace → Object littering for unwanted objects left across an area Disturbing the peace → Repetitive spam for repeated messages or advertisements Land → Encroachment for content crossing parcel boundaries An appropriate Indecency category for prohibited or improperly rated content If no category is an exact match, choose the closest one and explain the behavior clearly in the Details field. Explain what the object is doingAvoid descriptions such as “bad object” or “please remove this.” Describe the observable behavior and its effect. For example: At approximately 10:45 SLT in Example Region, this object repeatedly emitted explicit particles across the parcel and displayed them to nearby Residents. If the object is causing lag, sending unsolicited messages, repeatedly reappearing, crossing a parcel boundary, or targeting specific Residents, include that information. Here is the screenshot tips and reporting checklist again, just in case: Screenshot Tips: Accurately capturing a violation is one of the most important steps in reporting it. To get the best image you can, please try to include the following: Zoom in on the reported avatar or object Make sure that the user or object profile is visible Try to highlight the reported avatar or object by selecting it in crowded areas to make it clear what is being reported For an avatar, you can do this by selecting a piece of their clothes and opening the object profile A quick checklist before submitting Make sure your report includes: The correct Resident or object The closest available category A clear one-line summary The approximate date and time in SLT The region or location A factual description of what occurred A useful screenshot when visual evidence is available Report conduct that may violate Second Life policies—not personal disagreements, an avatar’s appearance, or content you simply dislike. Improving Marketplace Search and Product Discovery
https://community.secondlife.com/news/featured-news/improving-marketplace-search-and-product-discovery-r11329/
Starting on Aug. 17, we will begin rolling out new Second Life Marketplace maintenance policies designed to improve the shopping experience for everyone by decluttering and removing outdated Marketplace search results. The goal of the Marketplace is to help shoppers find high-quality and relevant items, and we’ve heard your feedback about the need to further improve product discovery and to ensure that active merchants and current products are more visible. That’s why we’re introducing a new automated monthly review process that identifies inactive products and stores based on account activity and sales history. These new policies affect only product and store visibility on the Second Life Marketplace – no products, inventory, or accounts will be deleted. Here’s what you need to know: Product Unlisting Policy To help keep Marketplace listings current and relevant: If a Merchant has not logged in for one year AND a specific product has not generated a sale in one year, that individual product listing will be automatically unlisted from Marketplace. This policy applies only when both conditions are met. If a Merchant has not logged in for one year AND a specific product has not sold in one year, that product will be automatically unlisted. Unlisting a product does not delete the product, the listing data, or the merchant account. The product is simply disabled from appearing for sale on Marketplace unless reactivated later by the merchant. Store Disabling Policy We are also implementing a policy for fully inactive stores. If a Merchant has not logged in for two years AND their store has not sold anything in one year, the entire store will be automatically disabled. Disabling a store does not delete the merchant account, products, or store data. The store is simply removed from active Marketplace visibility unless later reactivated by the merchant. What You Need To Do To help keep your store and products active on Marketplace, we encourage all merchants to: Review older or lower-performing listings periodically. Refresh product listings, images, descriptions, or pricing to help improve visibility and sales activity. Active merchants and actively maintained products will not be affected by these changes. Accounts will not be affected by these changes.

Second Life Spotlight - NinjaAntwoord
https://community.secondlife.com/news/featured-news/second-life-spotlight-ninjaantwoord-r11331/
Today, we’re shining a spotlight on NinjaAntwoord, the co-owner and technical lead of IndieSpectrum Radio and founder of Virtual Music Network, two projects dedicated to helping Second Life musicians be heard and discovered. How long have you been in Second Life, and how did you first hear about it? I joined Second Life back in 2013 after a real-life friend who lived in another city introduced me to it. It gave us a fun way to spend time together despite the distance, and in the beginning, I really had no idea what to expect. As I explored, I began meeting people from around the world and discovering the incredible creativity and sense of community that exists here, especially within the live music scene. What started as a simple way to stay connected with a friend gradually became a meaningful part of my own life, and I honestly never imagined when I first logged in that I would still be here more than a decade later. Ninja in 2013 You’re the co-owner and technical lead of IndieSpectrum Radio, which helps showcase original music created by Second Life musicians. How did you first become involved with IndieSpectrum, and what background or experience did you bring to the role? What motivated you to become such an active supporter of the music community? I first became involved with IndieSpectrum Radio as a listener and an avid supporter of Second Life’s live music community. After stepping away from Second Life for a short time to focus on real life, I returned and discovered that the station was no longer active. I knew how important IndieSpectrum had been to original artists, so I reached out to its founder, Fox Reinsch, to ask what I could do to help bring it back and support its mission. I brought a combination of professional broadcasting and technical experience to the station. I spent seven years working in commercial radio as an on-air personality, program director, and news director, along with more than 20 years in television broadcast operations. I also had experience with websites, streaming technology, programming, scheduling, and the behind-the-scenes systems needed to keep a station running reliably. Over time, my involvement grew from simply wanting to help into becoming the station’s co-owner and technical lead. What continues to motivate me is the extraordinary amount of original talent within Second Life. These musicians aren’t just performing familiar covers; they’re writing, recording, and sharing their own stories through music, often with audiences around the world. I believe that work deserves to be heard beyond a single performance or venue. Supporting IndieSpectrum gives me an opportunity to help preserve that music, introduce artists to new listeners, and strengthen a community that has given me so much over the years. You also founded Virtual Music Network and recently launched its Artist Directory to help people discover Second Life musicians and their work. What led you to create Virtual Music Network, and what do you hope the Artist Directory provides for artists, venues, and music fans? Virtual Music Network grew out of my desire to create a stronger connection between Second Life musicians, venues, radio stations, and the people who enjoy the music. There is an incredible amount of talent in Second Life, but discovering it can be difficult. Performances are often promoted through scattered social media posts, group notices, and event listings that disappear quickly. I wanted to build something more permanent; one central place where artists and their work could continue to be discovered even after a particular event had ended. The Artist Directory is an important part of that vision. For musicians, I hope it provides a professional, lasting presence where people can learn about them, hear their original music, find their upcoming performances, and connect

The Artist Directory is an important part of that vision. For musicians, I hope it provides a professional, lasting presence where people can learn about them, hear their original music, find their upcoming performances, and connect
with their websites and social platforms. It also gives artists another opportunity to reach listeners outside their existing circles, and potentially beyond Second Life itself. For venues and event organizers, I hope the directory becomes a useful resource for discovering performers who might be a good fit for their audiences. For music fans, it offers an easier way to explore the community, find new favorites, and continue supporting artists after hearing them perform. Ultimately, I want Virtual Music Network to help make Second Life music more visible, accessible, and connected. There are many talented people creating meaningful original work here, and they deserve a platform that helps their music travel beyond one stage, one audience, or one moment. Virtual Music Network and IndieSpectrum Radio work together in some interesting ways, from artist calendars and livestream links to songs that listeners can request directly through the station. How do you see these projects complementing each other and helping Second Life musicians connect with new audiences? IndieSpectrum Radio and Virtual Music Network share a common mission, but they serve two different purposes. IndieSpectrum is the radio station, the place where listeners can hear original music created by Second Life musicians around the clock and request songs directly from the station’s library. Virtual Music Network is the broader discovery and promotional platform, connecting artists, venues, events, livestreams, calendars, and music fans in one central place. The two projects complement each other by creating multiple ways for an artist to be discovered. Someone might find a musician through the Virtual Music Network Artist Directory, learn more about them, see when they are performing, and then request one of their songs on IndieSpectrum. The reverse can happen as well: a listener might hear an unfamiliar artist on the station, then visit the directory to find their profile, upcoming shows, social links, and more of their work. That connection is especially valuable because live performances are temporary, while recorded music and artist profiles remain available between shows. IndieSpectrum keeps the music playing after the virtual venue has closed, while Virtual Music Network gives listeners the context and resources to form a deeper connection with the artist. I see them as two parts of the same discovery ecosystem: IndieSpectrum provides the listening experience, while Virtual Music Network helps people explore the artists, performances, and community behind the music. Together, they can help Second Life musicians reach beyond their existing audiences, attract new fans, and build connections that continue long after someone first hears them. Virtual Music Network Artist Directory As technical lead for IndieSpectrum Radio, you’ve built and maintained many of the systems that power the station and its community resources. What does that work involve behind the scenes, and what do you enjoy most about creating tools that support Second Life musicians and listeners? Behind the scenes, there’s a lot of staring at server logs and asking, “Why did this work perfectly yesterday?” usually followed by caffeine, troubleshooting, and occasionally trying to reason with a machine that has clearly decided not to cooperate. In practical terms, I take care of many of the technical pieces that keep IndieSpectrum running. That includes the streaming servers, website, audio players, song-request system, music database, scheduling tools, and the connections between IndieSpectrum and Virtual Music Network. I also monitor the station, handle outages, and look for ways to make everything more reliable and easier for listeners to use. Ideally, most people never have to think about any of that. They should be able to press play, see what’s currently airing, request a song, or learn more about an artist without realizing how many different systems are working together in the
background. The part I enjoy most is knowing that the technology is helping real people share something they’ve created. I’m not building tools just because I enjoy tinkering with technology, although I definitely do. I’m building them so musicians can reach listeners who might never have discovered them otherwise. When someone hears a new artist on the station, looks them up, and then attends one of their performances, it makes all the troubleshooting worthwhile. Live, Loud and Unfiltered artist interviews on Substack You’ve been involved with the Second Life music scene in several different ways over the years, from radio and artist promotion to venues and special events. How have you seen the live music community evolve since you joined Second Life, and what do you think makes it so special? When I joined Second Life in 2013, I first experienced the live music community as an enthusiastic fan, exploring venues, discovering performers, and getting to know the people behind the music. Later, as co-owner of Terry’s Place, a popular live music venue at the time, I gained a much greater appreciation for everything involved in creating a successful show, from booking and promotion to making artists and audiences feel welcome. My partner Kaysie Michigan, who is also my partner in real life, has been deeply involved in the music community as well. She has managed several performers and worked closely with Kat Vargas, who was very well known and loved within the community before she sadly passed away a few years ago. Through Kaysie, I’ve also seen how much work happens away from the stage to support artists and help them succeed. Over the years, the scene has become more connected through social media, livestreaming, and platforms outside Second Life, while shows and venues have grown increasingly creative and polished. Venues come and go, and audiences sometimes become scattered, but the community continues to adapt, collaborate, and support one another. What makes it so special is that the Second Life live music community really does feel like a family. As with any family, people may not always agree, but they show up for one another, celebrating successes, offering support during difficult times, and coming together when someone needs help. You can hear an artist performing from another part of the world, interact with them between songs, and share that experience with listeners across several countries. Having been involved as a fan, venue co-owner, broadcaster, and promoter, and having seen Kaysie’s work with performers, I believe those relationships are what make this community truly unique. IndieSpectrum Radio played a special role in SL23B, and you also joined us as the emcee for the Golden Ticket Giveaway finale. What was that experience like for you, and what are some of your favorite memories from the celebration? SL23B was an incredible experience and a real honor for both IndieSpectrum Radio and me personally. The station helped carry the celebration beyond the event regions, including broadcasting the Opening Ceremony and sharing special promotional segments throughout the festivities. It gave us an opportunity to introduce more people to the talented musicians and the wider creative community that make Second Life so special. Serving as emcee for the Golden Ticket Giveaway finale was exciting, slightly nerve-racking, and a lot of fun. There is always an unpredictable energy when you’re hosting something live, but that’s also what makes it memorable. Seeing everyone gather for the finale, feeling the anticipation as the final prizes were awarded, and sharing that moment with the community is something I won’t forget. I was especially moved by the charitable impact of the celebration. Four nonprofit organizations each received L$250,000—approximately US$1,000 apiece—for a combined total of L$1 million. It was a wonderful reminder that an event built around creativity and celebration can also make a meaningful

New Zindra Land: A New Way to Find Your Next Parcel
https://community.secondlife.com/news/featured-news/new-zindra-land-a-new-way-to-find-your-next-parcel-r11336/
Earlier this month, we shared an update to our plans for Gaeta 1. Gaeta 1 will remain open as an active Mainland continent, and the new Zindra expansion regions created as part of that work will remain part of Mainland as well. You can read more about that decision in our Updated Plans for Gaeta 1 post. The expansion added 92 new regions to Zindra, creating new opportunities for Residents looking for Adult Mainland. As part of the transition, Gaeta 1 Residents were given first access to parcels in the new Zindra regions. With that initial access complete, we’re now preparing to make the remaining parcels available more broadly. Rather than making all of the remaining parcels available through the Mainland auction system, we’re going to try something a little different. Parcels will be released in groups over a period of time, with Residents given the opportunity to enter drawings to purchase them. How It Works For each release, entry kiosks will be placed directly on the participating parcels. The available parcels will include a variety of sizes that align with common Mainland tier levels. The first group of kiosks will open at 12:00 p.m. SLT on Tuesday, September 8 and will remain open for 72 hours, closing at 12:00 p.m. SLT on Friday, September 11. Residents may enter once per account for each parcel, and you may enter drawings for multiple parcels. We’ll maintain an updated list of parcels currently available for entry here: New Zindra Land: A New Way to Find Your Next Parcel Forum Post If you’re interested in future releases, we strongly encourage you to watch that thread. All upcoming parcel releases will be announced there, and the post will be updated as new parcels become available If You’re Selected Once a drawing closes, one Resident will be selected for each parcel and contacted by Linden Lab through a Support ticket. Selected Residents will have 72 hours from the time they are contacted to claim the parcel and complete the purchase for L$1 per square meter. To give as many Residents as possible an opportunity to participate, once you are selected for a parcel from these new Zindra regions, you will no longer be eligible for additional parcel drawings from this release program. Any other entries you may already have submitted will no longer be eligible for selection. Who Can Participate? Residents must have a Plus, Premium, or Premium Plus membership to own Mainland and participate in the drawings. Please keep in mind that adding a new Mainland parcel may increase your monthly tier depending on your current land holdings. If you’re selected and have questions about how a parcel may affect your tier, our Land Operations team can help before you complete the purchase. You can learn more about Premium membership here: Second Life Premium Premium Membership Knowledge Base We’re looking forward to seeing Residents make these new corners of Zindra their own. Good luck!

Trust & Safety Tuesdays: LindeX Billing and Trading Limits
https://community.secondlife.com/news/featured-news/trust-safety-tuesdays-lindex-billing-and-trading-limits-r11338/
When you first arrive in Second Life, your experience starts small. But as your presence matures, your ambitions expand, whether that means buying your first parcel of land, hosting community events, or managing a full region. Supporting that growth in a shared economy means expanding your limits as you establish a consistent, trusted track record, while holding firm against fraud and abuse. Those limits rise in stages rather than all at once, which keeps the marketplace stable for everyone. Balancing your growth in-world with collective safety is the primary goal of LindeX Billing and Trading Limits. What is a LindeX Billing and Trading Limit? At its core, a LindeX Billing and Trading Limit is a cap on how much money you can move through the Second Life economy within a specific timeframe. These financial caps apply across three distinct activities: buying Linden dollars (L$), selling L$, and issuing Payout Requests (Process Credit Requests) to transfer funds to your real-world bank or payment account. Together, these combined caps define your overall account spending and trading allowances, which are commonly referred to as tiers. Why We Have Billing and Trading Limits The primary goal of the LindeX is to give you total freedom to participate in a thriving economy, whether you are buying your first outfit, paying monthly land fees, or running an in-world business. However, moving real-world money in a digital environment naturally attracts risk. Billing and trading limits exist to maintain a safe, stable marketplace where Residents can operate with confidence. Ultimately, these tiers help us to strike a balance between providing maximum transaction flexibility while also maintaining high-level risk mitigation if an account is misused for any purpose. How Tiers Work Your account tier determines your exact daily and 30-day limits across buying L$, selling L$, and processing credit transfers. These limits accommodate everyone from new Residents to large-scale business owners. From the moment you register, you are assigned a baseline tier that governs your initial allowances. Rather than forcing a single cap on every account, LindeX Limit Reviews allow Residents to increase their tiers, providing a smooth progression path whether you are purchasing your first outfit, managing land, or running a high-volume business. Every brand-new account starts at a particularly restricted tier that will eventually progress to the first full level, but reaching it requires a Billing Age of at least 30 days. Your Billing Age is not based on your avatar's creation date. Instead, the 30-day clock only starts ticking when you make your very first transaction using real-world currency (such as USD). Spending or trading Linden dollars alone will not establish a Billing Age. Because of this, an account can exist in Second Life for years or even decades, but it will remain at the initial New Resident tier until 30 days pass following its first USD transaction. When managing your current tier, keep in mind that your usage does not reset on the first of the month or any other set date. Instead, limits operate on a rolling clock. Your available cap is calculated continuously based on your activity over the previous 24 hours and 30 days. As older transactions age past those exact time windows, that capacity opens back up automatically. For example, if you buy $50.00 worth of L$ on May 4th at 5:43 PM Second Life Time (SLT), that purchase will count toward your tier usage until 30 days later, expiring on June 3rd at 5:43 PM SLT. How to see your current Tier Limits You can view your current Limits and Limit Usage through secondlife.com. From here, log into your account to access your Account Dashboard. On your Account Dashboard, under “Linden Exchange”, click where it says “Manage”,

How to see your current Tier Limits You can view your current Limits and Limit Usage through secondlife.com. From here, log into your account to access your Account Dashboard. On your Account Dashboard, under “Linden Exchange”, click where it says “Manage”,
then an additional menu will open where you will see a tab titled “Billing/Trading Limits”. When you click this section, you will be directed to your Economic Limits page, where you can see all of your limits and their usages, for both your 24 hour limits and your 30 day limits. Increasing Your Billing and Trading Limits Once your account establishes a 30-day Billing Age, your limits will never increase automatically. Beyond this baseline tier, additional capacity is granted only by submitting a support ticket for a manual eligibility review by Trust & Safety. Tier reviews are based on sustained, demonstrated need, not on one-time or anticipated activity. If you've recently had a large payout from skill gaming, or you're planning a single project like opening a venue, plan to work within your current tier's rolling limits. We aren't able to make short-term increases for those situations. Best Practices for Submitting Your Request To help our team evaluate your ticket efficiently, make sure to include the following details in your application: Avatar Name: Clearly state the exact username of the avatar requiring the limit increase. Reason: Provide a brief explanation of why your ongoing inworld activity requires higher caps. Earning and Spending Info: Similar to applying for a credit card or bank loan, you may be asked for details on how you primarily earn and spend money within Second Life. Providing this context upfront can help speed up the review process. Important Guidelines to Keep in Mind One Avatar Limit: Only one avatar per Resident may hold elevated billing and trading limits at any given time. Review Confidentiality: We cannot share specific details regarding review evaluations, regardless of whether your request is approved or denied. We understand that denials can be frustrating given the limited feedback we can offer, but a denial should not deter you from applying again later. 30-Day Cooldown: Accounts are only eligible for a review once every 30 days. Submitting a new request immediately after a denial will not bypass this period or improve your chances. Ensure Account Security: Higher limits naturally increase the potential financial impact if your account is ever compromised. Think of an approved limit increase as a strong reminder to perform a quick security audit. Make sure your registered email address is current, update your password to a strong phrase that has not appeared in any data breaches, and turn on Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) to add an extra layer of protection to your login. Climbing Tiers: You cannot skip over any tiers. When an application is accepted, your account will be brought to the next tier above your current one. At the end of the day, LindeX limits are not designed to hinder your growth, but to protect the time, effort, and real-world value you put into Second Life every day. By keeping your account credentials secure and understanding how your tier scales with your activity, you help maintain a safe, stable marketplace for the entire community. If you ever have questions about your tier status or need to request a limit review as your operations expand, our team is always available through the Second Life Support Portal.
