<!-- SC_OFF -->All I want is a native way to insert a timestamp. Like how the built-in “omw ” instantly expands to “On my way!“ I would love to be able to type, for example, “.ts ” (dot-tee-ess-space) and have it expand to “Oct 24, 2026 at 2:33 PM” or whatever the current date and time is. On my Mac I have a shortcut that copies a timestamp to the clipboard and pastes it where my cursor is, just by hitting "cmd-shift-!". Easy peasy. Oct 24, 2026 at 3:18 PM. Boom. Just did it. But on my iPad, there are many more steps and it breaks the momentum of the workflow and forces a shift in focus. - access the share sheet - find and run the shortcut - then tap the document or text field or target area, etc - tap again to bring up the copy/paste bubble - tap again to hit paste. That's a far cry from cmd-shift-! like Oct 24, 2026 at 3:23 PM. Boom. Did it again. It's just so easy. I get that it's a really minor thing (if timestamps aren't something you need), but because from a programming standpoint it’s so simple, it’s a frustrating thing. It’s also annoying that it works pretty well on my Mac, but not on my iPad (when using a keyboard). If you've read this far, thanks for listening. If you have any suggestions that don't involve a third party solution, thanks in advance. I've attached a pic of what I'm using now, which works great on my Mac, and works in a rather clunky fashion on iOS/iPadOS and is pretty far from optimal. <!-- SC_ON --> submitted by /u/TheOtherMikeCaputo (https://www.reddit.com/user/TheOtherMikeCaputo)

Goodnotes architectural plans, site photos, and annotations on iPad and iPhone Many architects still think best with a pencil in hand. Goodnotes gives architects the freedom of pencil and paper, with every […]

What shortcut do you wish existed but can’t find (or can’t build)?
https://www.reddit.com/r/shortcuts/comments/1xfd7vu/what_shortcut_do_you_wish_existed_but_cant_find/

<!-- SC_OFF -->Hey everyone! I'm planning my next shortcuts and would rather build something people actually need than guess. So I'd love to know:- What do you do on your phone repeatedly that feels like it should be automated? Is there a shortcut you tried to build but gave up on? What part broke or got too complicated? Any shortcut you used to love that stopped working after an iOS update or an API change? Which category do you care about most? Media, productivity, files, utilities, social, AI/APIs, or something else. The more specific, the better. "Something for music" is hard to build. "Grab the song playing in a video and add it to my Apple Music playlist" is something I can actually make. If something gets a lot of interest, I'll build it and share it here properly when it's done. Thanks! 🙌 Edit:- Hey a lot of people have commented so I’ll try to get back to everyone gradually. There are some really cool ideas, although unfortunately, a few things aren’t possible with Shortcuts. I’ll do my best to reply to everyone <!-- SC_ON --> submitted by /u/Proper-Order3749 (https://www.reddit.com/user/Proper-Order3749)

Why isn’t shortcuts as popular on Mac as iOS…?Am I just not looking in the right places? Any communities that compare to this one?
https://www.reddit.com/r/shortcuts/comments/1xfe0ic/why_isnt_shortcuts_as_popular_on_mac_as_iosam_i/

<!-- SC_OFF -->edit: this was a stupid question I didn’t think through lol- so much makes sense now upon being given the obvious answer to this🙃 r/ShortcutsMac (https://www.reddit.com/r/ShortcutsMac) is barely active, there’s ofc sites with articles/etc, but I want to engage with a space that’s as active as this one. And I don’t see Mac mentioned as much here. And with that, the YouTube content is either minimal, or my algorithm hates me- any recommendations for creators who prioritize making content about shortcuts on MacOS specifically? It seems Stephen Robles does on occasion, and though I enjoy his content for iOS, I don’t really prefer it for Mac stuff. <!-- SC_ON --> submitted by /u/shinnith (https://www.reddit.com/user/shinnith)

I built a free app around Shortcuts to make the new iOS27 Siri voice read you anything. It's the free on-device TTS voice I've tried.
https://www.reddit.com/r/shortcuts/comments/1xfjais/i_built_a_free_app_around_shortcuts_to_make_the/
<!-- SC_OFF -->I built Natural Voice Reader (https://significantlocations.com/natural-reader/), a free text-to-speech app that uses Shortcuts to make iOS 27’s expressive Siri voice read you anything. Apple doesn’t let third-party apps access this voice directly, only standard voices like Samantha. This app uses a Shortcut to generate the audio, then brings it back into the app for playback. It includes word-by-word highlighting, playback controls, adjustable speed, and audio export. Recordings are saved for repeat listening. 100% free. No ads, subscriptions, locked features, or API keys. Requires: iOS 27, a device supporting Siri’s expressive voice, and a one-time Shortcut installation. It’s brand new, and I’d love feedback, especially from fellow Shortcuts users! <!-- SC_ON --> submitted by /u/Missing-Features (https://www.reddit.com/user/Missing-Features)

Airplane Mode Security and Cooldown State
https://www.reddit.com/r/shortcuts/comments/1xfo0b8/airplane_mode_security_and_cooldown_state/

<!-- SC_OFF -->I found this really cool tutorial that will ask for a PIN if you try to turn on Airplane Mode. If the PIN is incorrect, it will take a front facing picture, send it to a specified contact, then lock the phone. However there is a flaw. Watch the tutorial first: https://www.instagram.com/reel/Deku4G5iu7x/ So, the flaw is that when they turn on Airplane Mode, it turns on Airplane Mode and THEN asks for a PIN. If you cancel out, the phone stays on Airplane Mode and no information is taken/sent. I tried modifying it, but I run into a recursion. Essentially, as soon as Airplane Mode is turned on, I turn it back off immediately, take and send pictures/location, then ask for a PIN. If it's wrong or they don't enter anything, the phone is locked. If it's right, I set Airplane Mode back on. (The reason I take/send the pictures/location first is because even if they cancel out, the information is already taken/sent.) The PROBLEM is that if they input the CORRECT PIN, it will turn on Airplane Mode as it should, but it will also call upon itself and run again since I turned on Airplane Mode. I can never turn on Airplane Mode because it turns off by design. Automation: https://www.icloud.com/shortcuts/3dbd7d5027644f92a9d81f10695dc366 Is there a way to have a cooldown period so that it only runs once? I found a Reddit post that had a clever one, but it doesn't work for me. https://www.reddit.com/r/shortcuts/s/6tcDMRJQMk Cooldown solution by u/Cost (https://www.reddit.com/u/Cost)_Internal. Perhaps I'm overthinking it. Is there an easier solution? Can anyone help me fix mine, if not? <!-- SC_ON --> submitted by /u/1010temp1010 (https://www.reddit.com/user/1010temp1010)

Is there an automated shortcut for reminders to Todoist
https://www.reddit.com/r/shortcuts/comments/1xfuud2/is_there_an_automated_shortcut_for_reminders_to/

<!-- SC_OFF -->Hey, sorry it just has been published before, but I’m looking for an automated shortcut that when I create a reminders inbox item, I wanted to go right to Todoist without doing anything. Is that possible to be automated like that? I see one that has been created online that needs to be automated at certain times and what to do is open that I wanted to just be like hey Siri, please enter a reminder and automatically inject it to Todoist Thank you so much <!-- SC_ON --> submitted by /u/Extreme-Nerve3029 (https://www.reddit.com/user/Extreme-Nerve3029)

Apple TV sleep timer
https://www.reddit.com/r/shortcuts/comments/1xfyjgq/apple_tv_sleep_timer/

<!-- SC_OFF -->Why isn’t there an option to set a sleep timer in an Apple TV in shortcuts?! It seems like something straightforward to do. I have a bedtime shortcut set up, which turns on my bedroom tv. I want it to switch off after 45 minutes, but can’t for the life of me figure out how to set it up via a shortcut. I’ve tried “wait 2700 seconds” but it seems to time out for some reason! Any help would be much appreciated. <!-- SC_ON --> submitted by /u/DanAboutT0wn (https://www.reddit.com/user/DanAboutT0wn)

Shortcut to unlock Lucid Air Touring?
https://www.reddit.com/r/shortcuts/comments/1xfyjpl/shortcut_to_unlock_lucid_air_touring/

<!-- SC_OFF -->Since the Auto Unlock feature on my Lucid Air Touring is glitchy, has anyone been able to create a shortcut for iPhone or Apple Watch(especially the action button) that you can use to unlock the Air Touring?
