Tesla FSD v14.3.9 adds emergency steering

Tesla has just released version 14.3.9 of its FSD software, which now keeps a close watch on the road even when you are driving manually. 🚗

This update changes how the car’s safety systems work. If the car detects a crash is about to happen, it no longer just waits for you to react. Instead, the software can actively step in to help you avoid the accident. The system now reacts by:

▪️ Steering the vehicle to avoid an obstacle
▪️ Applying the brakes automatically
▪️ Accelerating to move out of harm's way

This is a significant shift. Previously, the software was primarily focused on automating the driving experience. Now, it serves as a persistent safety guard that watches your back while you are behind the wheel. In a separate move to expand its footprint, Tesla has also received approval to operate FSD in Slovenia. 🤖

Most standard collision avoidance systems found in other vehicles are relatively simple; they usually just slam the brakes when they detect an immediate obstacle in front of them. Tesla's new feature is different because it uses the more advanced, "thinking" computer vision model from FSD to make complex maneuvers, like steering around a hazard rather than just forcing a hard stop. 🛑

The car is now watching your back.

Tesla Full Self-Driving vote in the EU delayed

The European Union has officially pushed back its vote on Tesla's 'Full Self-Driving (Supervised)' system to at least December. ⏳

The 119th meeting of the Technical Committee on Motor Vehicles, which was expected to address the matter on October 6, will now only feature a brief 25-minute continuation of discussions. The committee is currently reviewing a request from the Dutch regulatory body, RDW, to extend their national approval of the software to the entire bloc.

Securing a continent-wide rollout requires a 'qualified majority,' meaning at least 15 of the 27 member states representing 65% of the European population must vote in favor. While the RDW greenlit the system in April, with Belgium and several other countries following suit, full integration remains blocked by the committee's slow meeting schedule. The delay effectively pushes potential EU-wide recognition into early 2027, shifting the timeline further than the autumn window previously anticipated by stakeholders.
