3.2- The Revolution Continues: Friday Legacy
"On the 18th of March
From Daraa we sparked it"
The protest that ignited the Revolution began on Friday, March 18, 2011, at Masjid al-Omari in Daraa, a city within the Hauran region. The Friday protest at al-Omari set a precedent that would soon spread all across Syria. Every Friday after Jumaah prayer, Syrians gathered (& continue to gather) to demonstrate for their freedom & dignity.
"The day Masjid al-Omari was destroyed by the regime, we heard them over the wireless giving orders & saying 'Destroy their symbol'"
Due to its historical, religious, cultural & revolutionary significance, Assad sought to kill the ppl's spirit by targeting al-Omari numerous times. The minaret was directly targeted and destroyed by regime's tanks.
"For us every minaret in Hauran, Syria, or any Islamic country is a symbol for the revolution & rebels"
10 yrs later, despite regime re-occupation, Syrians at al-Omari in Daraa renew their vow to continue the Rev until victory.1/2

In Idlib, Syrians responded with "Long live Daraa."
The Revolution Continues across the entirety of Syria - from Idlib to Daraa...
And our children are the inheritors of the Syrian Revolution's blessed Friday legacy, our pillars of light, hope, and victory.

Today, Assad regime & allies: Russia & Iran continue the systematic targeting of vital areas that are essential for humanitarian aid & economic prosperity for Syrians in the Free areas: Hospital, residential areas, gas plant, IDP camps, essential border-crossing, truck & trailer parks..
At least 7 civilians were killed & 24 more were injured, including essential medical staff. A shepherd was injured & his entire flock, his source of rizq (sustenance), were killed. The total death count remains unknown as if this moment.
While the economic situation in Assad regime occupied areas continues to worsen (a result of regime's own evil-doing), the Assad regime & its imperialist allies seethe at the free Syrians' resilience despite 10 years of suffering. Their goal to extinguish life in the Free areas continues but..
At the end- Allah is Ar-Razzaq, The Sustainer/Provider.

The 11th Anniversary (1/3)
"بالثامن عشر من آذار من درعا ذعناها.."
"On the 18th of March from Daraa we planted [sparked] it.."
- a Syrian Haurani chant.
The Friday of Dignity, March 18, 2011 officially launched the Syrian Revolution. From that point on, protests erupted every Friday after Jumaah prayer.
Today, the Friday protests mark the 11th anniversary of the revolution: Friday of March 18, 2011- Friday of March 18, 2022. Despite recent crackdowns by the regime, Syrians gathered once again at Masjid al-Omari in Daraa. The Revolution of Honor and Dignity continues in the free areas of the North and beyond.
I impart to you some of the words of Sheikh Ahmad al-Sayasna, one of the first Shuyukh to speak out against the regime and to stand by the people on the blessed Jumaah of Dignity:
"Bismillah..Someone told me 'Why do you speak often of the revolution when you're but little (in followers)?' I replied 'You measure us by [the fact] that we are small in number. Dignity is but little [in amount]...'

Friday of March 18th: The 11th Anniversary of the Syrian Revolution (2/3)
"Someone told me that the revolution died long ago by the powerful will of the American, European and the Arab. I replied 'The revolution has not died. Its goals remain.'
Those who placed forth [offered in sacrifice] millions of shuhada (martyrs), disabled, the disappeared and the detainees, those who left their home country, fleeing the oppression of the oppressors and the tyranny of the tyrants, all of them will never forget what they were inflicted with. They will never forget the human slaughterhouses. They will never forget the human massacres. They will never ever forget the children that [the Assad regime] scared and killed and denied education.
We will never ever forget those who destroyed our homeland... We will never ever forget those who pointed their weapons at us and killed our young men and our women and our daughters and our shuyukh..."

Friday of March 18th: The 11th Anniversary of the Syrian Revolution (3/3)
"We will never ever forget those heinous atrocities that were called upon by the cowards of humanity, that were committed at the cost of the Haqq (rights) of this miskeen (poor) people...that wanted freedom, and wanted dignity, and wanted justice, and wanted life.
..I will say that the Revolution will never die. It's goals remain... Even if time is prolonged. No doubt the night will pass by.. and
'إن غدًا لناظره قريب'*
- Sheikh Ahmad al-Sayasna. March 18, 2022.
*Very roughly translates to: "Tomorrow, the one who awaits will see it soon." It's a well-known Arabic saying meaning that one's hopes and aspirations will soon come to fruition. And that it's not impossible as long as there is unshaken belief (in this case that the victory of Allah ﷻ will be actualized).
