​​​​Telegram recently concluded a recent round of their design contest. One of the highlighted designs implements a "Categories feature" by Egor Stalchuk. This is a variation of foulders where all channels can specify to which category do they belong.

I quite like this design + it will make channel discovery more straight forward. On the other side, it gives less control to the user than a simple custom foulders solution.
Please keep in mind that it is not an official app design but an official design competition.

I got asked to compare Telegram beta client versus Plus messenger in order to find a reason to use the first one instead of another.
First of all, I need to say that my review is based on a 2-day usage experience with Plus messenger and daily usage experience with Telegram beta client.

As a user, I am also an owner of several channels and groups on Telegram plus I am reading around 10 different channels on a daily basis.

First of all, I think that every Android app can find it's user because people are different and they have different preferences. The same goes for Telegram clients. They have minor differences in UI/UX and some of them might be a better fit for one person than another.

Silent Messages, Group Admin Titles and Slow Mode for Groups

• Hold the Send button to send any message without sound – in case the recipient is sleeping. 
• Enable Slow Mode in Group Permissions to control how frequently members can post.
• Set custom titles for admins.
• Tap the paperclip icon to open the redesigned attachment menu.
• Toggle looped playback for animated stickers.
• See preview thumbnails when scrubbing through a video. 
• Send animated emoji.

Do you also have this Archived chats folder on top of your @telegram app? I just realized that you can hide them by swiping to the left, unhide by swiping down or pin to top by swiping left again! It took me a couple of weeks to discover this 😅

Improved swipe back logic on the chat screen:
- Swipe back is disabled when editing a message (this prevents accidental loss of the edited message)
- Swipe back is disabled on the input field (this prevents accidental swipes when trying to select text)
- Fixed: keyboard closes when it does not need to in saved messages
- Fixed: swipe back works when trying to scroll back sticker suggestions

Telegram account on Twitter was always relatively active but since Jul 1st they started a new hashtag #TelegramTips where they post short tips on how to use Telegram app in a more efficient way.

This hashtag also got used by other Telegram users (including @betaTestingCatalog) to share their helpful tricks.

During these 3 months, there were enough tips being shared in order to aggregate them into one list.

Telegram Tip #1

> Contacts can be quickly shared face-to-face. Simply open Contacts > Add People Nearby and see users next to you (who also have this menu open). No telepaths were harmed in the making of this feature.
