[Policy Explainer: Career Conversion Programmes: Reskilling Singaporeโs Mid-Career Workers]
By Justin Chua and Dylan Chia
4,500 workers retrenched in a single quarter, the highest since the pandemic. However, at the same time, employment also grew by 10,700, the 19th straight quarter of growth. ๐

[Policy Explainer: Climate Reporting: A Step towards a Greener Future?]
By Heidi Goh and Lan Sin Yu
Singapore's target is net-zero by 2050, and mandatory climate reporting is one of the tools meant to help Singapore companies get there. By making their emissions and climate risks visible to investors, it allows them to make more informed decisions and encourage progress towards decarbonisation. ๐ฑ
However, the updated rollout tells a more cautious story: Singapore set its ideal start date as FY2030 or beyond, a longer runway than most other countries moving toward mandatory disclosure. ๐๏ธ
Does a cautious timeline reflect realistic support for businesses, or does it risk Singapore falling behind its own climate ambitions? ๐
