The Masjid-i-Jehan-Numa (Persian: ู…ุณุฌุฏู ุฌู‡ุงู† ู†ู…ุง), commonly known as the Jama Masjid (Urdu: ุฌุงู…ุน ู…ุณุฌุฏ) of Delhi, is one of the largest mosques in India.

It was commissioned by the Mughal Emperor, Shah Jahan, between 1644 and 1656. The Jama Masjid was regarded as a symbolic gesture of Islamic power across India, well into the colonial era. It was also a site of political significance during several key periods of British rule. It remains in active use, and is one of Delhi's most iconic sites, closely identified with the ethos of Old Delhi.

This picture is from the 1950s.

The circle points to the birthplace of the venerable Prophet ๏ทบ, Makkah, 1887. Lady Amina did not experience any of the unsual signs of bearing a child and had visions and auditory experiences of an exceptional nature at the birth of the Chosen One. The noble Messenger ๏ทบ said: When my mother gave birth to me, she saw a light that illuminated the palaces of Syria so she could see them. Other variations of Hadith include: a light emerged that illuminated everything from east to west, and then he ๏ทบ fell to the floor and knelt.
