Al Jazeera said two of its correspondents, including a prominent reporter, and three cameramen were killed in an Israeli strike on their tent in #Gaza.

The attack was the latest to see journalists targeted in the 22-month war in Gaza, with around 200 media workers killed over the course of the conflict, according to media watchdogs.

Al-Sharif was one of the channel's most recognisable faces working on the ground in Gaza, providing daily reports in regular coverage.

The Israeli military admitted in a statement to targeting Anas al-Sharif, the reporter it labelled as a "terrorist" affiliated with Hamas.

The war in the #Gaza Strip is starting to look different these days on the Israeli news.

For most of the past two years, television stations in Israel have paid little attention to suffering in Gaza, giving viewers a steady stream of stories about Israeli heroism, the agony of hostages’ families and the deaths of soldiers in combat.

But that is changing. In recent months, some Israeli stations have begun to share graphic images of malnourished children and a few deeply reported stories about the difficulties of daily life for Palestinians.

US President #DonaldTrump gave #Hamas “three or four days” to respond to his #Gaza ceasefire plan, which requires the militants to release hostages within that period, fully disarm, and be excluded from any future role in government, a post-war transitional authority led by Trump has also been proposed.

#EXPLAINER | Hours after US President #DonaldTrump issued an ultimatum to Hamas to accept his ‘peace plan’ or face extinction, the #Gaza-based outfit said it was ready to accept some of the 20 points in the proposal, adding the others need negotiations.

Trump immediately welcomed the Hamas response and asked Israel to stop its bombing in Gaza, claiming it would usher in lasting peace in the entire West Asian region.

Partial Hamas approval to Trump’s peace plan offers hope to avoid further bloodshed after Israeli retribution killed 67,000.

TNIE Web-only Column | US President Donald Trump's ridiculous demand for the Nobel Prize and his grotesque dream of rebuilding #Gaza as a tourist paradise replay the logic that Edward Said had long exposed—the conversion of destruction into development, conquest into investment.

Said's clarity is needed now—the courage to name things truthfully, to see in Gaza not a passing conflict but the culmination of a century-long struggle over land, history, and representation.

#OPINION | The #Gaza war, now tapered into an awkward ceasefire, has left behind devastation beyond imagination. Israel fought with overwhelming force, Hamas remains battered but not erased, and the world once again confronts the familiar question that has shadowed the region for decades: who really gains when the dust settles?

It may sound counterintuitive, but in the political and psychological sense, Hamas appears to have secured what strategists call ‘perceptual victory’, even as Gaza lies in ruins.

TNIE web-only Column | West Asia today is engulfed in what appears to be spirals of conflict. The most flagrant example of this embattled scenario was the war in #Gaza that saw a ceasefire earlier this month, which has already been violated multiple times.

Other flashpoints in the region are the continued Israeli assaults in the West Bank, the simmering Israeli-Hezbollah conflict, and the Israeli incursions into western Syria.

The recent political change in Syria has significantly reduced internal conflicts in the country but outbreaks of violence remain areas of concern, most recently those targeting the minority Yezidi and Alawite population, writes Miloon Kothari.

#OPINION | #Trump has been consistent in one respect: he treats geopolitics as extended real estate. It is in this light that he imagines #Gaza—not as a political tragedy, but as a site for reconstruction, a Mediterranean Riviera. He has found a natural ally in #Israel, to which Yahweh apparently promised the Greater Israel project. The language of policy elides into the language of property. And God wields a bulldozer the size of Earth.
