/networkGoodbye Poverty Jetset: How Art Workers Make Solidarity Economies
Book Launch
1 Oct, 2026, 19:00
Casino for Social Medicine
This evening is the launch of Sepp Eckenhaussen’s book at Casino for Social Medicine. How is it possible that so much money is made in the arts, but not by the people who make the art? And how to change that? Goodbye Poverty Jetset is a toolbox for all the art workers who want to change the system they live and work in, collectively.
The design-sprint of the Solidarity Economies Lab, led by Sepp and Geert Lovink, is also taking place this weekend in our studio, where the lab participants are developing their own collective economic model for art workers. More notes about their progress to follow ⟶ ⁂

/tm RFC 40First session of The School of Algorithmic Solidarity with eeefff
Do we think of this as nature?
9 Oct, 18:00 – 20:00
transmediale studio
The first session of the School of Algorithmic Solidarity focuses on the materialities of digital infrastructures. Former server ventilators, once used to cool the servers of a platform-economy company, become the main material of a deprivation-room-like environment. Out-of-service cooling machines can be reprogrammed for our burnt-out, exhausted bodies. Participants are invited to experience and navigate an environment shaped by the physical conditions of digital economies.
Registration is still open ✰

Decoder (1984)
12 Oct, 19:00
Plantagenstr. 30
transmediale is a guest at Arsenal Kino’s Making space (Raumgeben) series, presenting a screening of Muscha's Decoder ✺
Decoder is an early cyberpunk fantasy, where the titular character roams desolate city streets collecting noises to chop up and reassemble in his studio. Convinced that the Muzak in fast-food restaurants keeps diners blankly content, he meets a cult of pirates and their high priest. Together they produce an "anti-tape" that throws the city into chaos.
Followed by a conversation with transmediale RFC 40 curators Barbara Cueto and Antonina Stebur, moderated by Stefanie Schulte Strathaus.

/collabWhite Papers on Dissent Book Presentation by Barbara Cueto
21 Oct, 19:00
transmediale studio
In White Papers on Dissent, Barbara Cueto explores blockchain technology beyond its economic narratives and technical promises, as a social device to rehearse post-capitalist imaginaries. The book introduces Critical Blockchain Art as an artistic practice that builds on the legacy of socially engaged art and institutional critique, while opening new spaces for testing alternative modes of governance and rethinking the infrastructures that shape collective life. The book sits alongside her curatorial work: Cueto is the curator of groundstates, the next edition of transmediale festival.
The presentation is followed by a conversation with terra0, moderated by Chris Dake-Outhet.

16:00 Pre-Game: Communal hangout in the BanKanga Space
18:00 Protocol Activation: Feiticinhos – Casting Spells for a Post-Money Bank
If the globalised notion of a bank originated from the italian banca, the merchant’s bench, what might a bank look like if it had emerged elsewhere?
BanKanga imagines the banks' foundations not as wood but as cloth: the canga of Brazil and the khanga of the Swahili Coast. These textiles unfold as temporary grounds for gathering, carrying, offering, resting, and exchanging.
A communal hangout is followed by an interTropical protocol activation, where the temporary community is invited to cast spells for a post-money bank, invoking a gradually growing infrastructure of reciprocity.
With Luiza Crosman, Théo Ferreira Gomes, Juan Pablo García Sossa, Pablo Somonte Ruano, and Tatyana Zambrano

Exhibition as part of Berlin Science Week
Opening: 3 Nov, 18:00
Exhibition Dates: 3 – 8 Nov, 2026
transmediale studio
In November the new works of two of our residents Amanda E. Metzger and Laura Benech are presented alongside a film work by Berlin based artist Zeno Gries at the exhibition Emergent Conditions. The exhibition reflects on the tensions and bridges that emerge as synthetic agents acquire very human qualities such as memory and voice. Its three installations locate technology as something felt in the body, in memory, and in the rhythms of attention.
