βΊ We see a very strong close on Wall Street, with semiconductor stocks also recovering significantly. NVDA gained nearly 4%, lifting the semiconductor sector by more than 3% overall thanks to Nvidia's massive market capitalization. Another major catalyst came from Micron's plans to increase investment in new US manufacturing facilities to $250 billion to meet demand driven by the AI boom.
βΊ Unlike rising CAPEX spending by the hyperscalers, this announcement was met with optimism rather than concern, as production capacity is the key priority for chip manufacturers. In addition, SK Hynix's US listing was reportedly more than seven times oversubscribed, highlighting the enormous investor appetite for semiconductor companies and, in particular, confidence in the South Korean memory-chip maker and the durability of growth in the memory-chip industry.
βΊ The strong US close should provide additional tailwinds for both Asian and European markets next week.
βΊ We are buying the relative underperformance of the DAX, which has recently been weighed down primarily by sharp losses in Rheinmetall, weakness among major German industrial companies, and especially the automotive sector, which continues to struggle with declining sales in China.
βΊ European equities reacted much more negatively to concerns that the conflict in the Persian Gulf could escalate again. However, with negotiations taking place in Iran over the weekend, we believe it is more likely that diplomacy will be given another chance next week.
βΊ We currently see the DAX trading slightly above the regular Frankfurt closing level but still modestly lower for the day (slightly below 25010). At the same time, the DAX remains well below the record highs reached earlier this week.

I don't want to carry our oil position into next week because I don't believe the situation in the Persian Gulf will deteriorate further over the weekend. While it is unlikely to improve significantly either, that alone should be enough for the market to become somewhat less concerned about a further escalation.
That said, it is true that shipping traffic through the Strait of Hormuz declined noticeably following the two US strikes on Iranian targets. Around 34 vessels transited the Strait over the past 24 hours - a little more than half of the normal average.
The important point, however, is that traffic has been increasing again since the lows seen on Tuesday and Wednesday. More data is available here.
If this trend continues, we expect oil prices to move lower again next week.

Sorry for the slightly delayed performance update. I spent the weekend traveling for a Saturday meeting in Singapore and today I'm on my way back towards Europe. There should be no interruptions during the upcoming trading week (in regards of SmartTrader activity).
Our recent days have been phenomenal, and our 5-week signal accuracy /
We also closed NVDA - too early - after the stock rallied even more than we had expected (more than 4%). Looking back, it would have been better to give NVDA more room to run on Friday, as we continue to expect further significant gains this month. We could also have bought more aggressively near / below the $200.00 level - NVDA's underperformance in June was quite remarkable.
We also closed our TSLA position with a very good overall profit. This means that all other positions shown in this section of our performance overview have now been closed - all in profit β

It's impossible to find the fitting superlatives to describe our current performance. So far, we haven't closed a single trade this week out of profit - although our GBP/USD position is currently off-profit, we were able to generate solid profits in the meantime with USD dip purchases. We already closed 25 from the 27 trades from this week in profit β
The only (open) position we could have managed significantly better was NVDA by widening the TP once more. If you're still LONG, you can comfortably remain LONG. Institutional investors, in particular, continue to accumulate NVDA at what they see as an attractive valuation. By the way, this was our first not positive NVDA trade since April 2026 - after 16 consecutive highly successful NVDA trades. NVDA will remain one of our cash cows and we will look for a good entries.
We've already built some exceptionally long winning streaks, such as indices - where we have now won 22 trades in a row. We are still LONG in the DAX.
Congratulations once again on an exceptionally strong July so far. Tomorrow, we'll continue working hard to maintain this outstanding performance.
Greetings from Bahrain π§π for now - Robert

We currently have no open positions on Wall Street, as all our positions had hit their TPs by Friday at the latest. We had once again expected a rotation out of semiconductor stocks - and that is exactly what we saw today. The South Korean memory-chip giants plunged, dragging the Kospi Index down 9% and once again triggering a market-wide trading suspension.
βΊ SK Hynix plunged by a record 15% in Seoul (around -10% for the new ADR in New York - SK Hynix's relative outperformance here points to rebound potential in the sector), while technology and semiconductor giant Samsung lost almost 11%. This highlights growing investor concerns that the boom, particularly in the memory-chip market, has become overstretched.
βΊ Nearly all global equity markets are trading lower today, with only a few exceptions. One of them is the DAX, where we are positioned LONG. The DAX initially dipped but then moved back into positive territory. It is our only remaining open position from last week after GBP/USD also hit our TP
βΊ Semiconductor stocks are the biggest drag - including in New York. Apart from that, we are seeing positive market breadth despite oil prices rising again, with most stocks trading higher. Contrary to our expectations, the US and Iran did exchange strikes again over the weekend, causing oil prices to open higher. If you are still LONG in oil - congratulations - but I would recommend closing the position soon (WTI around $74.2 | Brent around $79.0, both Aug'26 futures), as I still expect oil prices to cool from here.
βΊ We may see some additional profit taking in several volatile semiconductor stocks, including MU (memory chips), INTC, LRCX, MRVL, etc. Overall, however, we expect this dip to be relatively short-lived. The current sentiment environment remains favorable for defense stocks as well as
βΊ We are looking for an opportunity to buy the dip in the Nasdaq, but currently prefer the Dow Jones. It is down less than the Nasdaq 100 but offers upside regardless of whether the semiconductor sell-off extends somewhat further. We are also watching NVDA after our position hit TP on Friday. If NVDA falls below
βΊ Although the Dow Jones is the more defensive choice, we are looking for an entry in the Nasdaq around the NYSE opening (currently down around 1.1%). As we also expect oil prices to cool in early NYSE trading, this would provide additional support for Wall Street.

βΊ If you are still LONG in oil (we bought Friday's dip very well), I would recommend closing the position now. Despite the strikes exchanged between the US and Iran over the weekend and Iran's retaliation against US allies in the Persian Gulf and beyond on Monday morning - including attacks on US bases in Kuwait, Bahrain, Jordan, and Oman - we expect oil prices to move lower later this week.
βΊ Oil prices initially moved slightly lower into the NYSE opening but rebounded during early NYSE trading, creating some headwinds for Wall Street. We continue to monitor NVDA. The stock initially attracted buying at the open but then fell below its opening level, also dragging the Nasdaq 100 slightly lower. However, we expect a rebound soon. We see an attractive entry near or belowπΌ $207.00. We expect significantly sharper losses, however, in memory-chip companies such as MU and SNDK, as well as in more volatile semiconductor stocks including AMD, INTC, LRCX, and ARM.
βΊ AAPL would indeed have been an excellent choice at the NYSE opening. For now, we are seeing defensive stocks - including more defensive technology names such as MSFT and NFLX - outperform. However, this will likely last only as long as the current rotation remains intact, as we expect dip buying to return in semiconductor stocks.

βΊ An entry in NVDA at/below $207.00 would indeed have been very strong - potentially close to perfect - although, following the sharp rebound in other higher-risk chip stocks, we could still see some additional downside first. If you took that entry - congratulations (I am already LONG here). I am looking for another entry opportunity for you and expect some temporary resistance in the 209 - 210 area, followed by a potential pullback back to 207.00 (possibly even lower).
βΊ I also like the rebound potential in the other (memory-)chip stocks, which have fallen much more sharply, including MU, which dropped to near $900, down more than 7%.
βΊ We still see MRVL trading near the session lows and want to buy the sharp dip in the chip sector here already and take quick profits.
βΊ The Nasdaq also weakened somewhat following the additional losses in chip stocks but is already rebounding. The Dow would have been the slightly better choice at the NYSE open, but the Nasdaq 100 still offers greater rebound potential from here.

βΊ While we could buy individual chip stocks for a rebound after today's sharp losses (particularly MRVL, MU, as well as some of the other memory stocks such as SNDK), we are instead improving our Nasdaq entry for now. We also continue to like NVDA after it pulled back a bit further - although we are already LONG. NVDA came under a bit of additional pressure after The Information reported that Google is potentially planning to sell its Tensor Processing Units (TPUs) to up-and-coming neocloud providers, entering a market that has so far been almost entirely dominated by Nvidia's GPUs.
βΊ Overall, the uncertainty surrounding oil shipments has triggered a bit more risk-off sentiment and pushed oil prices higher once again. The catalyst was Trump's statement that the U.S. would no longer protect the Strait of Hormuz for free and that the U.S. should be compensated for securing this vital oil shipping route. Trump announced a kind of 20% reimbursement fee on all cargo passing through the strategically important waterway to offset the cost of U.S. military protection. It remains unclear what exactly this means, but in reality it is more likely a political pressure tactic against Iran than a measure that will actually be implemented.
βΊ Our WTI position is now off-profit after oil prices rose sharply following Trump's announcement (to reinstate the blockade of Iranian ships transiting the Strait of Hormuz and introduce the confusing 20% reimbursement fee). In addition, sharply higher insurance premiums provided further support for oil prices. We view the market's negative reaction primarily as a consequence of this uncertainty, but generally expect the spike in oil prices to cool off again soon. We see important resistance levels for WTI near/above $78.50 and for Brent near/above $83.50.
βΊ In our view, the market is overreacting to this uncertainty. In reality, Trump is trying to extract concessions from Iran and ultimately push through some of his demands. The renewed conflict - together with rising oil prices, inflation concerns, and the resulting risk of higher interest rates - comes at a particularly inconvenient time for Trump, just four months before the Midterm elections.

The generally positive risk sentiment received a significant blow after the U.S. and Iran resumed exchanging strikes and Trump responded by playing Iran at its own game: blocking Iranian ships from passing through the Strait of Hormuz while now demanding a fee himself - 20% on all cargo transiting the Strait of Hormuz - at least in theory. Based on current oil prices (with crude at around $80 per barrel), this would amount to roughly $30 million for a fully loaded oil supertanker. This stands in sharp contrast to the approximately $2 million per cargo ship that Iran reportedly planned to charge as a transit fee.
The strategically important strait normally accounts for around one-fifth of global oil and gas flows. Asian markets in particular have been hit hard by the latest developments, even though ships are still passing through the Strait of Hormuz for now. South Korea's Kospi gave back a large portion of its strong Q2 gains and fell to its lowest level since April, although it is currently recovering. European markets are also trading lower in pre-market, which is why we are tightening our DAX TP
Although we have been looking for attractive entry opportunities, the current uncertainty is weighing on risk sentiment and has pushed oil prices even higher, putting our portfolio temporarily off-profit. WTI reached its highest level in more than a month and recorded its biggest single-day gain since May 2020, driven by panic buying. We are therefore tightening our WTI TP
Countries in the region will now put pressure on Trump to change course, as the erratic actions of the U.S. have brought the attacks back to the region and could trigger renewed instability. It is also likely that Iran will push for another round of talks. In any case, we expect to see further threats as well as additional military strikes.
We are not reacting in panic, however, and will closely monitor the developments today (Tuesday).

βΊ While we generally remain positive on the technology sector, we currently see a fragile rebound in the Nasdaq 100, driven primarily by the gains in the chip sector that we expected following yesterday's losses. In particular, NVDA (we are LONG), as well as yesterday's losers such as MU and other memory stocks, AMD, ASML (reporting earnings tomorrow), INTC, etc., are posting strong gains today. Overall, we are seeing pretty much the rebound we expected.
βΊ However, the current rebound remains fragile, particularly as the software sector is coming under pressure. Software stocks have already been under pressure because recent rotations into chip stocks have often been financed by selling software, big-tech, and defensive names. Additional headwinds emerged after IBM warned that its upcoming Q2 earnings are expected to fall short of expectations.

πΈ during European trading (overall well in profit), supported by broad dip buying and the rebound in the chip sector.
βΊ While we generally continue to see further upside potential for the Nasdaq 100 this week and especially this month, we expect some cooling today. Additional headwinds are, of course, the collapse of the ceasefire between the U.S. and Iran, as well as the uncertainty over whether ships will still be able to pass through the Strait of Hormuz in the coming days or whether they will have to pay Trump's proposed hefty transit fee.
βΊ On the positive side, banks have started the current earnings season on a solid note. However, they are not benefiting from it at the moment - JPM, for example, is trading lower despite reporting a very strong quarter.

SHORT EARLY NYSE TRADING

Recommended Entry
πΉ Nasdaq 100 (+1.1%) - is benefiting strongly from an impressive rebound in the chip sector. Some of yesterday's biggest losers are opening significantly higher (including AMD and MU), while chip giants NVDA and AVGO are also trading firmly in positive territory. However, the outsized gains in the chip sector make this rebound very fragile, especially as we continue to see headwinds in the software sector following IBM's earnings warning (shares down more than 20%). Nevertheless, gains have extended a bit further than we expected - we are now working with a tighter TP
π
πΉ Nvidia (+1.8%) - is already trading strongly in pre-market, providing substantial support for the Nasdaq 100. Our position is already opening slightly in profit - we are setting a tighter TP
π
βΊ Wall Street benefited strongly from the much lower-than-expected U.S. CPI data. The figures show that concerns about inflation and scenarios of the Fed returning to rate hikes remain largely unfounded for now, despite recently higher oil prices. Core inflation came in at 2.6% YoY - well below the expected 2.8% and even lower than last month's 2.9%. The surprisingly cool reading caused bond yields to decline sharply. However, with oil prices still elevated, we expect only limited additional downside in yields from here.
βΊ Another positive development was the start of the earnings season, with banks delivering mostly strong results - although so far only Goldman Sachs (GS) has benefited from its earnings report. We are looking for an entry into JPM and expect a rebound later this week after today's opening nearly 2% lower. We find JPM attractive below $330, and the current decline makes fundamentally no sense (it is also partly driven by the ongoing rotation into chip stocks).
βΊ We are selling the sharp rebound in chip stocks and have chosen chip equipment manufacturer Applied Materials, which is opening around 6.5% higher (near 614.00). Both AMAT and LRC are benefiting from expectations of strong earnings from ASML as well as the continued massive investments by chip manufacturers to expand production capacity. Retail investors are once again buying aggressively here - we are doing the opposite for now. AMAT is a very attractive long-term investment (although I personally prefer ASML).

βΊ The significantly lower-than-expected US CPI data provided a major boost to Wall Street and, despite higher oil prices, caused both US Treasury yields and the US dollar to decline sharply.
βΊ As a result, EUR/USD rebounded by around 0.7%.
βΊ From here, however, we expect only limited further upside and rather a cooling-off, as inflation data in Europe recently came in even lower than today's US CPI figures. In addition, the ECB has already taken a cautious rate-hiking step, making further interest rate hikes increasingly unlikely.
βΊ At the same time, higher energy prices and, above all, the ongoing uncertainty surrounding oil and gas shipments through the Strait of Hormuz continue to act as headwinds for the euro and generally support the view that demand for the USD is likely to remain strong.

TP
Our timing today - while trading completely against the market and in an environment where timing is almost impossible to get right - has been spectacular.
Our AMAT, Nasdaq 100, and DAX positions have all closed at TP
We can now widen the TP
We also found a very good re-entry in WTI and will remain positioned there for now, with the current TP

We can reasonably assume (very likely!) that we currently have the longest active winning streak in intraday index trading worldwide. Especially under these highly volatile market conditions, such a winning streak is practically impossible to reach. Congratulations, and amazing that you are part of this!
