We traded today’s swings and difficult market conditions very well overall.

The unexpectedly dovish tone from the Fed’s Williams, the decline in oil prices, and potentially some BoJ intervention pushed our USD/JPY 📸 position into the SL.

It is, of course, also disappointing to see our extremely long Gold/Silver winning streak come to an end - it was very likely the longest ever achieved winning streak in short-term precious-metals trading - congrats again!

Unfortunately, the closing was not ideal for our first lost gold trade, as we were caught by the aggressive overselling.

It was our first negative closing with a precious metal position since our gold trade from June 18 (‼️) - what a crazy winning streak.

That said, we found a perfect final re-entry and followed it up with several strong Gold and Silver trades throughout today's session. We are still LONG. We tighten the TP ✅ slightly.

Similarly, we could have closed all of our recent index trades profitably. Our Dow Jones position is now deep in profit, and we are setting a tight TP ✅ and secure with a SL

I am still not entirely sure why my initial Nasdaq 100 📸 position from Monday had a minimally different TP. In hindsight, we could have closed that position higher - same applies to our Gold position of course.

We also executed an outstanding XOM trade 📸 on Monday with a perfect entry, followed by another excellent SPCX trade 📸 at today’s NYSE open.

Gold may have been frustrating today, and in the end we didn't close ideally at all, but overall we traded an extremely difficult market environment very well today.

► The PCE data surprised positively, coming in lower than expected and remaining largely unchanged from the previous month. While inflation remains elevated, analysts had expected a further acceleration. However, we should absolutely not overestimate the signals suggesting that inflation may no longer be a key issue - particularly because of the way PCE is calculated and the fact that these are the August rather than September figures. Personal spending, on the other hand, showed higher spending, which is more likely attributable to inflation than to an actual increase in real consumption.

► US GDP growth QoQ came in stronger than expected, but was certainly also supported by elevated inflation.

► Expectations for further rate hikes and yields have now fallen, however, resulting in a weaker USD, which should support precious metals.

► Gold has moved above 4200. Gains in Silver have so far been more limited, with Silver still trading lower today - currently at 61.20, or around 0.35% down. We are buying Silver here and see significant upside potential.

🔹 Intel (+1.0%) - is opening higher after yesterday’s nearly flat session and continues to recover from Monday’s losses. Today’s US economic data provides tailwinds for growth / risk assets. We expect a positive session for INTC. We are keeping our TP unchanged for now (✅ @: 125.59), although it is still quite far away. Bank of America says investors should definitely own INTC and recommends it as a “BUY.”

🔹 Meta (-1.0%) - had a very strong session yesterday (+3.24%), but is seeing some cooling today and is one of the few tech stocks trading lower. We remain LONG.


► The market is somewhat confused that PCE inflation data in the US did not rise at all. One reason, however, is that the data is from August and was therefore still influenced by the more moderate prices from June through August. A large part of the recent sharp increase in energy prices only occurred in September.

► Ultimately, however, the market also trades the available data and expectations, and in combination with yesterday’s comments from Fed’s Williams, we are seeing lower expectations for further rate hikes. This should temporarily cool yields somewhat and is positive for stocks. Investors nevertheless remain somewhat cautious overall, as this is the final trading session of the quarter and MU’s earnings report is also coming up.

► The combination of PCE and GDP data is positive overall. Strong GDP data alone would probably have been negative, but together with the inflation data (even though they are outdated in reality), we expect some buying during regular trading.

► We are buying the Nasdaq 100 and also adding a small position in MSFT. The software giant has recently traded mostly sideways, or rather faced some selling pressure following Friday’s gains, and is also opening nearly flat today. MSFT should see moderate volatility today. I already bought during pre-market trading. Piper Sandler reiterates MSFT as “Overweight”, which should also provide tailwinds, and raises its price target from $550 to $610. We expect MSFT to break out of its recent slightly negative sideways movement today.

► We are seeing a somewhat directionless and genuinely confused market. The PCE data came in surprisingly soft. The Personal Consumption Expenditures Price Index (PCE) for August rose 3.4% YoY, down from 3.7% in the previous month. Economists surveyed by Dow Jones had expected inflation to remain unchanged at 3.7%. Core PCE, which excludes food and energy, was even more encouraging. It rose 3.0% YoY, down from 3.3% in the previous month, and also came in below economists’ expectations. Core PCE MoM came in at 0.2% versus 0.3% expected.

► In reality, however, the inflation data is already outdated, and PCE inflation is calculated in a way that means it generally reacts with a time lag (+ is from August!).

► Even though we are already LONG in Silver, Gold generally reacts more strongly to inflation data. Surprisingly, the Silver price action does not even look particularly strong right now.

► We saw Gold jump back above 4200, but it is now trading even below its pre-PCE levels again. We are buying this Gold correction as an additional position, with Gold now back below 4180 - and therefore also below the triggered TP from yesterday’s position.

► Higher oil prices are weighing on Gold / Silver, keeping the USD elevated and are currently the main reason why Gold and Silver have not been able to move higher for now.

► We are changing our strategy here, as Silver is now clearly oversold.

► The market got the soft PCE data it had been hoping for and certainly did not expect. At the same time, US Treasury yields fell after the softer-than-expected inflation data reinforced expectations that the Fed will refrain from another rate hike in October. Swap markets are still pricing in one more rate cut in 2026 - but only one.

► Instead of working with an increasingly tighter SL, we prefer to manage the position more actively and buy the current overselling.

► We are setting a TP ✅ that allows us to close the overall position profitably.

► Gold is also trading a bit lower now - however, we expect Gold to find buyers near 4150, at least for now. We are not increasing our Gold exposure for the time being.

► Higher oil prices reduced the positive impact of the surprisingly “soft” - but in reality outdated - PCE data, the Fed’s preferred inflation gauge.

► Expectations for further rate hikes have declined. Swap markets are currently pricing in only around a 39% chance of a rate hike in October, down from roughly 51% yesterday and 71% last week.

► We are now seeing oil prices cool somewhat after the EIA also reported a build in crude oil inventories - although gasoline inventories fell more sharply than expected. JPMorgan and Goldman Sachs say they expect Middle East oil flows to move back toward pre-war levels after Saudi Arabia increased shipments in recent days through a key pipeline that exports oil via its Red Sea ports. This pipeline significantly reduces the importance of the Strait of Hormuz - at least for Saudi Arabia.

► We made a great Nasdaq 100 trade before / around the NYSE opening and now see upside in the Dow, which has underperformed due to a rotation into riskier / growth stocks. We also closed a Dow LONG at 51638.40 during Asian / European trading - more than 400 points above the current price. The Dow is now trading at its session lows, weighed down by losses in financial stocks (particularly GS, but also V, JPM and AXP, as financials are not benefiting from expectations of lower rates). At the same time, we are seeing underperformance in defensive stocks.

► Today’s USD strength is somewhat difficult to justify fundamentally after PCE data - the Fed’s preferred inflation gauge - showed a softer-than-expected increase in US inflation for August.

► Combined with yesterday’s more dovish Fed commentary, the PCE report has significantly reduced expectations for another Fed rate hike this year. Less than 40% of the market is now pricing in an October hike, compared with more than 70% last week.

► A renewed rebound in oil prices has nevertheless provided some support for the USD, which is on track for its strongest month since June, with Brent remaining close to $100 per barrel.

► We are also seeing typical quarter-end positioning and portfolio rebalancing, which is providing additional near-term support for the USD.

► Eurozone inflation data was broadly similar in direction to the US figures, although these were already September readings: 3.0% YoY in France, 4.2% in Italy, and 3.3% in Germany.

► In the very near term, we see some upside potential in EUR/USD from current levels. The broader outlook, however, remains bearish as long as the Iran conflict remains unresolved and the prospects for renewed diplomacy remain uncertain.

► We can buy EUR/USD near 1.13200.

► Our previous Dow position hit the very tight SL 🔑📸 before falling another ~100 points amid increased profit-taking during the final minutes of the quarter and ahead of MU earnings.

► The SL was probably slightly too tight. However, the subsequent decline now allows us to re-enter below our previous SL, leaving us in a better position than if we had simply continued holding. We actually also found a good entry with the position first rising more than 100 points but then facing some sentiment selling (quarter end selling).

► The Dow lost more than 250 points during the final hour of trading that saw a bit of turbulence.

► Both the S&P 500 and Dow closed lower despite fresh US economic data showing softer inflation, which simultaneously pushed Treasury yields lower.

► MU has now reported very strong earnings, including an equally strong outlook that exceeded consensus expectations. The key question is how high investors’ unofficial “whisper/shadow” expectations had become ahead of the report, given the already very bullish analyst forecasts.

► The report itself was stronger than an already elevated consensus. MU is currently trading modestly higher at around +0.5%.

► We are buying the dip in the Dow here and continue to see upside potential into October.

Our 🔽 Signal Accuracy / Success Rate slipped slightly, but remains at an exceptionally high 92.6% 🏆

Another flawless session (6/6; 💎 SA/SR = 100%) dropped out of our five-week statistics and was replaced by a 3/4 session (SA/SR = 75%).

It was not a perfect session - but under today’s conditions, that would have been nearly impossible to achieve. The PCE data came in very differently from expectations, and the subsequent market reaction was almost the opposite of what would have made fundamental sense. Oil prices remained a factor but also the fact that it was the last Q3 session.

We had a few small off-profit closings, including our first Dow 📸 position, where the SL was very tight. Overall, however, we traded the market well - limiting risk, waiting for better entry levels, and positioning ourselves on the right side of the intraday swings.

Silver’s price action was a perfect example of just how confused the market was today, with a long list of conflicting factors influencing risk sentiment. We adjusted our strategy well and identified an excellent re-entry range.

As always, we also delivered very strong NYSE Opening Trades, including MSFT 📸 and our Nasdaq 100 LONG 📸.

We are slightly adjusting the TPs✅ for our Gold, EUR/USD, and Dow positions.

► During late Asian / European trading, we saw fluctuations, with moves in oil prices being the key driver. Oil prices rose after initially trading lower, following a Reuters report that Chinese state oil major PetroChina had suspended its October fuel exports, putting additional pressure on already war-constrained energy markets. Beijing appears to be trying to safeguard domestic supplies.

► According to calculations from several major investment banks, including JPMorgan, Goldman Sachs and UOB, crude oil flows from the Middle East are reportedly moving back toward pre-war levels. However, supplies of refined fuels, particularly gasoline, continue to lag behind.

► The renewed rise in oil prices also pushed yields higher, with global bond yields at multi-decade highs. Our Gold position was able to hit the TP 📸 (at the current daily high) before Gold moved lower again as oil prices rose. We are also seeing a stronger USD as a result of higher oil prices and yields.

► Market sentiment initially started the day positively and was additionally supported by Micron’s strong earnings report.

► We see further upside in oil prices as limited from here and are selling Brent.

🔹 Dow Jones (+0.2%) - is opening higher after some volatility in pre-market trading, primarily driven by swings in oil prices and further rising yields. Our position moved close to the TP at around 14:30 London time (UTC+1). We continue to see upside potential, although we expect most of the gains to come from the tech sector. We are therefore setting a tight TP and prefer shifting our exposure toward the Nasdaq. The Dow remains bullish for now.

🔹 Intel (-1.0%) - is opening slightly lower after two very positive sessions. We remain LONG and keep our current TP (✅ @: 125.59). Yesterday's strong MU earnings report was the latest in a series of earnings reports confirming that the massive revenue growth across the AI sector remains intact, with no meaningful signs of slowing down.

🔹 Meta (+0.6%) - is opening higher and continues to offer significant upside potential over the coming weeks, into Q4, and over the longer term. Deutsche Bank shares this view and added META to its "Fresh Money List," citing substantial long-term upside potential. We expect further positive analyst calls on META over the coming sessions. We keep our TP (✅ @: 759.39).


► Oil prices remain the key driver today. Micron's outstanding quarterly report has supported the broader sector. However, MU investors are already heavily positioned in the stock, which limited the additional upside from the earnings report itself. Alphabet has also supported bullish sentiment after unveiling its latest Gemini model.

► Overall, however, market breadth remains relatively weak, with more S&P 500 components declining than advancing. At the same time, tech stocks are clearly outperforming, which is why we are shifting more of our exposure toward the Nasdaq. We are taking advantage of the volatility and can enter slightly below current levels.

► We are looking for an entry opportunity in MU, which is opening around 1.1% lower - fundamentally unjustified in our view. We expect support below 1055.00 and believe MU could reach new all-time highs again very soon. Competitor SK Hynix is opening around 0.8% higher. MU will likely remain highly volatile, but we want to go LONG post-earnings with a smaller position.
