We are seeing a very strong rebound in semiconductor stocks today, especially among memory chip makers (just as we expected). Asian semiconductor stocks also finished today's session strongly, including memory giant SK Hynix (+5.3%) and Japanese chip maker Kioxia (+8.3%).


🔹 Nvidia (+0.6%) - remains in a bullish momentum and is delivering the strong July gains we expected. Citi once again reiterated its "BUY" rating on NVDA following a meeting with the company's investor relations team.

🔹 Micron (+7.0%) - is making a huge jump, opening above $1,015. This easily triggered our TP (✅ @: 982.43), allowing us to close the position with a very large profit + very positive opening gap. Congratulations! 👏

🔹 Tesla (+0.2%) - is attempting to rebound after recent weakness as the auto sector came under pressure from renewed concerns that the US-Iran conflict could escalate again. In reality, TSLA is only minimally affected, and higher oil prices are not a meaningful headwind for TSLA. TSLA should also benefit from SPCX's performance today (+2.0%). We keep our TP (✅ @: 408.08) unchanged for now. Citizens rates TSLA as "Market Perform", arguing that too much optimism regarding Optimus and Robotaxi is already priced in - an assessment I fully agree with.


► Today we are seeing the major rotation back into semiconductor stocks. As always, this rotation comes at the expense of the mega-cap technology hyperscalers (Apple, Microsoft, Amazon, Alphabet, Meta), software companies, and defensive sectors. Before long, we are likely to see this pattern reverse again as once again gains become too concentrated in chip-stocks, leading to another round of sharp profit taking.

► Overall, we continue to see further upside for Wall Street. Investors are already looking beyond the renewed US strikes on Iran - at least for today. Tomorrow's session will be more cautious.

► We are entering the S&P 500 here while the broader market is showing mixed performance. The S&P 500 is up around 0.1% and sill has some additional upside. After further initial gains in semiconductor stocks, however, we also expect another wave of profit taking.

► We are also buying one of the hyperscalers and are choosing META, which has been a significant underperformer recently. The stock already closed about 2% lower yesterday and is currently trading more than 3.5% lower in pre-market (hovering around 580). META is under pressure due to concerns about its high CAPEX spending, including the construction of its first data center in Canada. Investors remain worried about elevated investment spending and intense competition (Alphabet, Microsoft, Amazon), all of which operate highly successful cloud infrastructure businesses. In reality, however, demand remains extremely strong and the business is highly profitable. The concerns appear exaggerated. BofA has also added META to its US1 list (Best Ideas).

► While Apple and Meta are now also working with Broadcom on custom AI chips, making Alphabet's partnership with Broadcom appear less unique at first glance, the collaboration between Google and Broadcom is on a completely different level. Their jointly developed custom TPUs are likely to become a major long-term competitive advantage for Google over the other hyperscalers, and this advantage is still largely not priced in.

► The recent strong rally and rotation into semiconductor stocks have made the Magnificent Seven stocks overall surprisingly inexpensive (with the obvious exception of TSLA - and AMZN is not exactly cheap either), even though fundamentals remain exceptionally strong, albeit with sharply rising CAPEX spending.

🏆 Congratulations 🏆 - our trading performance remains absolutely spectacular. It's hard to put into words just how good our timing and positioning have been over the recent sessions. Throughout the entire month of July, we have not closed a single (!) trade at a loss ❌ (yet) and have finished yet another trading session with big profits. At the same time, we found outstanding entries in an extremely challenging market without building up excessive exposure.

With today's small S&P 500 profit 📸 (together with our DAX 📸 trade), we have now won 21 (‼️) index trades in a row, giving us what is likely the longest active winning streak in short-term index trading under these exceptionally difficult market conditions.

With META 📸, we executed the best possible NYSE opening trade outside the semiconductor sector (market capitalization > $50B) - and did so against the market. We also executed another difficult contrarian trade with Alphabet 📸 (near-perfect entry).

In addition, we closed several more positions in profit, including an outstanding MU trade 📸 that we could even have closed slightly higher. MU - also opened actually HIGHER (but delayed opening for me). We bought the difficult dip in MU and were ultimately rewarded handsomely for it. We are also tightening the TP ✅ for gold slightly.

Sorry for today's slightly delayed NYSE Opening Update. We are seeing a solid start to trading on Wall Street (and especially for our small portfolio), with stocks moving back towards their all-time highs. As expected, semiconductor stocks are seeing some moderate profit taking today (with the exception of NVDA), while the market prepares for South Korean memory chip giant SK Hynix's debut in New York. SK Hynix raised $26.5B through its ADR offering - the largest US IPO ever by a foreign company.


🔹 Nvidia (+1.3%) - continues to extend its gains and is trying to move back towards / above yesterday's highs. Today's price action once again shows that NVDA is no longer moving in tandem with the broader semiconductor sector. Morgan Stanley reiterated its "BUY" rating on Nvidia following a meeting with management and continues to call the stock one of its "Best Ideas." NVDA may trade close to our current TP (✅ @: 208.53).

🔹 Tesla (+2.1%) - opened very strongly and rallied sharply during pre-market and early NYSE trading. This triggered our TP (TP ✅ @: 409.77 + a small opening gap as TSLA opened at 410.49; I was able to adjust my TP during pre-market and closed at 411.23 📸), allowing us to close the position with a strong profit overall. If you are still LONG, it makes sense to close your position around our triggered TP (409.50 - 413), as we expect moderate profit taking later in today's session.


► We are cautiously buying the early pullback in the Dow Jones. Overall, we continue to see positive market sentiment. Following the strong rebound in semiconductor stocks, we are now seeing some moderate profit taking, which could intensify somewhat towards the end of today's session. The main drivers of the Nasdaq 100 / S&P 500 today are NVDA (+1.4%), META (+6%), and TSLA (+1.2%). "Unfortunately", our META position already hit its TP yesterday - although it still generated a very strong profit. What's remarkable is that traders were aggressively selling META yesterday while we did exactly the opposite and bought it.

► Overall, we expect trading to become somewhat more cautious during the second half of the US session ahead of the weekend, as concerns about a potential escalation in the Persian Gulf remain.

► Wall Street indices are currently trading mostly flat, but market breadth remains positive. We can enter the Dow Jones here for a moderate profit, as we are only lightly positioned in New York following our recent successful closings.

► The market is looking past the seemingly tough comments from US President Donald Trump and increasingly believes that, following the recent flare-up, the US is aiming to de-escalate the conflict rather than intensify it further.

► Trump said on Friday that the US had agreed to continue talks with Iran. At the same time, however, he reiterated that Washington had made it unmistakably clear to Tehran that the ceasefire was "OVER." "The Islamic Republic of Iran has asked us to continue the 'talks.' We have agreed to do so (...) But the United States has stated to them, in no uncertain terms, that the ceasefire is OVER!" Trump wrote on Truth Social.

► WTI crude is currently trading about 1.3% lower, hovering around $71.00 (spot). We expect moderate buying from these levels ahead of the weekend, as investors are likely to position themselves a bit more cautiously despite signs that talks may resume.

► Qatari negotiators are currently visiting Iran to hold talks with Tehran in coordination with the United States.

► Also positive for risk sentiment is Trump's rejection of further Israeli involvement in the conflict. According to Israeli media reports, the Trump administration does not want Israel to become involved in further military action out of concern that it could lose control over the conflict. This is yet another sign that Trump prefers to escalate the situation in a controlled manner - on his own terms - before moving back toward de-escalation.
