► Slightly rising oil prices ahead of the NYSE open and during early NYSE trading have pushed yields higher again. At the same time, we are seeing a stronger USD. All of this is weighing on Gold.

► Nevertheless, we continue to see upside potential in Gold and are cautiously rebuilding a LONG position.

► Oil prices remain the key driver for precious metals today as well. We saw some cooling during the previous session and toward the end of Q3. Higher oil prices increase inflationary pressure and, in turn, expectations for further Fed rate hikes.

► Overall, however, expectations for additional rate hikes remain well below last week's levels. This follows yesterday's significantly cooler-than-reported PCE data - even though it referred to August - as well as unexpectedly dovish comments from several Fed officials, most notably New York Fed President Williams.

► Gold is now trading roughly flat again near/below 4160. Silver remains around 1% higher. Yesterday, we correctly identified the fundamental mispricing and excessive selling in Silver and traded it very well. We are re-entering Gold here more than $30/oz below the TP that was triggered previously.

► We found a good exit for our Dow position 📸 from yesterday after finding a perfect entry shortly after the NYSE close. The Dow then fell around 650 points from its session highs - which is not insignificant - while oil prices remained elevated and edged somewhat higher, and the relentless bond sell-off continued to push yields higher and higher. We do not expect this trend of rising yields to stop anytime soon - as I have been saying for months. The market will adjust to higher financing costs.

► The Dow also came under pressure from the outperformance of tech stocks, as another incredibly strong earnings report from MU (we are LONG) triggered a rotation from defensive stocks into growth stocks. This included an 87% profit margin, which even exceeds NVDA’s margins.

► We are also seeing weakness in financials, as expectations for further rate hikes have interestingly declined even though inflation concerns remain very present.

► The ISM Manufacturing data, which reflected higher prices, renewed inflation concerns. We expect this to stabilize and want to trade the Dow back above 51K.

► We are seeing oil prices cool somewhat - which is positive for risk sentiment.

► His approval rating is at a record low just one month before the midterm elections. Polls show that voters disapprove of Trump’s handling of the war, which has also driven energy prices higher and reignited the inflation crisis - globally. Big profits today 💵 We traded another difficult session very well as we continue to put greater emphasis on sentiment and order flow analysis.

In particular, we had several strong index (Nasdaq; Dow Jones x 2 📸) and precious metals trades (Gold 📸) despite both markets remaining very swingy. Good entries, good exits, and solid position management throughout the session 👏

Oil’s surge was one of the key market drivers today and also pushed our Brent position temporarily off-profit. I see limited upside from current levels, with resistance around 🔽 101.60 - 102.40 (102.30 - 103.10 for the Dec ’26 contract). This is also an area where we can consider a re-entry. We tighten our TP ✅ accordingly.

We also saw a strong start to the Asian session, particularly in tech. MU’s huge report was another major driver on Thursday. It was surprising to see how many traders - especially retail traders - sold into the initial reaction. We did the opposite, which turned out to be one of the very best possible stock trades of the session today. I almost missed the entry because my pending order did not trigger during the first few minutes. Given the market’s unusual initial reaction, we could actually have entered even lower. I closed MU 📸 slightly higher.

► We are seeing a further improvement in risk sentiment after a solid Asian session with gains in the tech sector. More importantly, oil prices have fallen very sharply after reaching exactly the resistance area we expected and as signs increased that EU countries are considering releasing strategic fuel reserves. Our Brent SHORT easily hit the TP - even our original TP.

► The French proposal, discussed on a call involving European governments, would see European countries release 50 million barrels of diesel, while IEA members would additionally release 50 million barrels of crude oil from reserves. The Trump administration has urged European allies to release supplies “immediately” - obviously also because elevated fuel prices are weighing on Republican hopes of avoiding disastrous results in the midterm elections.

► We are also seeing broadly higher markets in New York, with nearly all sectors - except Energy - trading higher.

► Higher yields continue to weigh on stocks, while the NFP data, due in 20 minutes, is also in focus for traders. Last month’s very strong NFP report triggered selling as expectations increased that the Fed would see sufficient conditions for further rate hikes.

► We expect a significantly softer report today and generally see further upside potential. Tech stocks are leading the gains, while only memory stocks are trading sharply lower. The Dow should be somewhat less volatile and has underperformed this week.

► We expect increased volatility shortly before the NFP data and, of course, when the data is released, which we can use to find an entry.

► We saw a weak NFP report, with Nonfarm Payrolls rising by only 29,000 in September compared with +90,000 expected. In addition, revisions showed that employment in July and August combined was 60,000 jobs lower than initially reported. The unemployment rate also rose to 4.2%, versus 4.1% expected.

► On top of that, average hourly earnings also came in significantly below the median forecast.

► It is the sixth consecutive month in which inflation has outpaced wage growth, demonstrating that consumers are right to feel that affordability is deteriorating.
We are seeing a significantly weaker USD.

► As expected - bad data is good data - as it further reduces expectations for additional rate hikes.
Gold is currently up around 1%, and we see further upside potential. Silver is up more than 2%.

► The key 4200 level has a certain pull-down effect, but Gold now has more room for a further rebound.

My initial TP for the Dow was actually 51498 - and it would have been hit exactly in the immediate reaction to the weaker-than-expected NFP data. But we are VERY happy with our position.

We are seeing the “Bad Data is Good Data” phenomenon that we were also trading.

The weaker NFP data reduces expectations for further rate hikes, which could also provide some much-needed - albeit temporary - relief for the USD and yields.

We are securing our profits.

We may now see a rotation into more rate-sensitive stocks, particularly the growth / tech sector. This could lead to some rotation out of defensive stocks and therefore to underperformance in the Dow.

► While we see further upside potential in tech / growth stocks, they are already significantly outperforming. We once again choose the Dow Jones and can enter around 250 points below our triggered TP / closing price. Small caps via the Russell 2000 also look attractive. The Nasdaq 100 also has further upside potential, and we are actively looking for an entry. We can even enter the Dow around pre-NFP levels and expect support in the 51200 - 51250 range (where we are also buying). We are seeing a typical correction after an initially strong reaction - in this case to the weaker-than-expected NFP data.

► Gains would likely be stronger if today were not Friday. Further support comes from hopes for a release of fuel from strategic reserves by EU countries, as well as a release of crude oil by IEA member states.

► We are buying the extreme weakness in NFLX, which is also significantly underperforming today. NFLX is considered a relatively defensive stock and is not trading like a typical growth stock, given that its business is based on growing subscriber numbers. NFLX is also attractive as a long-term play, especially with its P/E now below 20.

► Energy was the only sector trading significantly lower in pre-market trading. We now see Health leading the losses, while Energy is currently trading almost flat.

► We also see the major US oil companies trading nearly unchanged, supported by dip buying and by the correction of the initially outsized gains in the growth / chip sector (which is still significantly higher). This is exactly the rotation we wanted to trade today with NFLX - a defensive stock. We are selling XOM here.

► The correction extended somewhat further, particularly in precious metals, which have now turned negative. Buyers were unable to defend the 4170 support.

► We are also seeing the typical cautious Friday trading.

► The Nasdaq 100 is still up around 1%, but has seen significant profit-taking losses from its highs.

► We are adding a reduced Nasdaq 100 position to our Dow position and making another re-entry in Gold. Silver fell below the $60 support, but should now attract some buyers, which could help stabilize precious metals. The selloff is triggering panic selling. After buyers initially canceled or moved their buy orders lower, we are now seeing signs that buyers are gaining the upper hand below 4130.

► We also saw a certain “Sell the Rumor, Buy the News” effect following the announced release of fuel / oil from strategic reserves by the G7. The market apparently continues to overestimate the importance of the Strait of Hormuz at this point, as several alternatives are already in place. It is true, however, that the risk of further attacks - including by the Houthis in Saudi Arabia / the Red Sea - remains elevated.

► While we may not see much of a rebound from here today, we can ultimately already position for the upcoming week. Gold remains bullish for Q4 despite high yields.

► We do not want to overexpose ourselves to oil here, as we are already SHORT XOM again. At the same time, oil prices are also being supported by typical Friday buying, together with some concerns that the weekend could bring further escalations. Saudi Arabia is reportedly preparing an offensive against Iran-backed Houthi militants in Yemen. Options under consideration reportedly include a coastal advance to secure the Red Sea shipping route or potentially an offensive across multiple fronts. The operation is expected to begin in the coming weeks and be led by Yemeni ground forces fighting the Houthi militants, who also control the capital region. Riyadh is expected to oversee the operation and provide support with air strikes.

► Concerns about a possible resumption of US strikes against Iran in November have also reduced hopes for potential progress in talks. According to the Iranian news agency Fars News, the Trump administration is also involved in a coup plot in Iran. Such plans are indeed likely and have also been planned by Israel for years - targeted destabilization.

► We see Brent trading 0.6% higher, while WTI is down 1.6%. We are trading Brent's outperformance here and generally see room for prices to cool again in the upcoming week.
