Prime Video will show ads and offer an additional cost option to get rid of them. In addition to ads from its own catalog, Prime Video will start showing third-party ads from January 29, 2024. Users will have the option to "pay" $2.99 (monthly) to have ads removed. This "feature" will be tested in Australia, Spain, France, Italy and Mexico initially, with no mention of other locations for now.

Amazon had previously announced that it would begin showing ads (link) during streaming (for free, right in your face). So far, only subscribers in the United States and Canada are experiencing this new feature. But it doesn't stop there, the plan is to expand to more regions.
