The option is expected to be available in iOS 17.3, where it will be possible to download and install apps (IPA) for iPhone and iPad from alternative app stores other than Apple's App Store. It's not something new, but it will become a reality in the European Union soon and possibly worldwide.

In iOS 17.1, users can already install IPA app files through AirDrop, but only with a Russian Apple ID. You download and send via AirDrop and the installation is automatic. For more information, read [link].

Can you believe this? The European Union is accusing YouTube of violating the rights of using ad blockers

It's no longer news that YouTube is working to block users who use ad blockers on the platform.

If YouTube continues to think they can get away with deploying spyware to our devices, I will bring them down too.

YouTube can identify the use of ad blockers through codes that track its pages when users are watching videos with ad blockers enabled. It's precisely at this point that the European Union comes into play. This practice violates the online privacy rights of users in the EU.

The commission (EU) confirmed that scripts used to detect ad blockers also fall under Article 5.3 of the ePrivacy Directive, a rule that requires websites to ask for user consent before storing or accessing information on a user’s device, such as cookies.

More news involving Apple and the European Union, but this time it's an update on the possibility of installing apps through third-party stores, — alternative stores.

From Monday to Wednesday: Stand for news content.

Apple is developing a (quite complex) system verification method that, upon validation, will receive a "safe to use" certification. Additionally, the feature will be available only to users in the EU. This feature will be available as soon as 2024.

This could become a reality due to recent news about the situation in the European Union vs Apple.

The Microsoft app and game store could be launched at some point in 2024 when policy adjustments come into effect. Microsoft not only wants to launch the app and game store for iOS/iPadOS but also for Android.

Once again, the European Union 'dictates' rules, aiming to ban infinite scroll on social media platforms such as Instagram, TikTok and others

👽 Let's talk! ;)

The European Union is seeking some form of control to address addiction to infinite scroll on platforms such as Instagram and TikTok. The European Parliament deems infinite scroll highly addictive and proposes the implementation of ethical rules for social media.

If approved (which may take some time), companies will be required to develop and enhance their services to operate in the country. All of this is aimed at transparency and ensuring that users are not harmed. Additionally, a filter is being proposed to prevent the excessive sharing of fake news.

In the coming weeks, users in the European Union will be able to sideload applications from third-party stores to Apple's App Store

According to Bloomberg, this is expected to happen in the next few weeks. Users will have the freedom to use third-party app stores without the need for Apple's App Store. The law ensures that Apple allows downloads and installations through alternative means, and payments can be made through different systems, not limited to purchases within the Apple Store.

It is anticipated that, not too far in the future, Apple will need to comply with other laws currently under discussion in the United States, Japan and Russia.

Apple's plan, specific to Europe, aims to enable users to download software onto the iPhone outside the App Store for the first time.

Apple is planning new fees and restrictions for downloads outside the App Store following the European Union's enforcement of the Digital Markets Act to address the dominance of major tech companies and improve user mobility between competing services.
