📷❗️An important intelligence indicator from spotters in California: strike “Poseidons”

Using a long-focus ultra-zoom camera, a P-8A Poseidon long-range anti-submarine aircraft was captured carrying not its standard AGM-84B-1/N Block II+ anti-ship missiles with a range of 130–220 km, but instead the latest low-observable AGM-158C LRASM anti-ship missiles, with a range of 930 km, an advanced INS, and an infrared targeting sensor.

It is clear that the P-8A can carry up to four such missiles on its hardpoints, which, in combination with its unique AN/APS-154 pod-mounted AESA radar under the fuselage, effectively turns the aircraft into a near-strategic reconnaissance-strike platform. Therefore, Russian Aerospace Forces must triple their attention to P-8A reconnaissance flights in the Murmansk and Crimean directions.

⚡️ Russian President Vladimir Putin announced that a new weapon “previously spoken about” has been “brought to readiness” and will be demonstrated soon.

This could refer to the imminent adoption of the Burevestnik ("Буревестник") — a cruise missile of effectively unlimited range fitted with a nuclear power plant.

As is known, thanks to being equipped with a nuclear turbojet engine with a fast-neutron reactor, the 9M730 missile has an operational range of 20,000–30,000 km, which is limited only by the service life of the engine’s mechanical components. This engine heats air, which expands and pushes the missile forward. If the reactor overheats, the reaction stops by itself: fast neutrons simply stop hitting uranium nuclei.

The engine’s exhaust products do not cause critical environmental contamination. Nevertheless, the operation of the USAF WC-135R Constant Phoenix is not accidental, since trace impurities of the isotope cobalt-60 may be present in the “plume” formed by the 9M730’s jet exhaust tests, owing to the probable use in early variants of the power plant of a radioisotope thermoelectric generator (RTG).

Recall that the main operational-tactical advantage of a 20,000–30,000 km range is the ability to follow extremely complex routes to defeat enemy air- and missile-defense systems, routing around low-altitude sectors of SAM radar coverage while taking numerous natural terrain features into account. In the case of the Kh-101, such routing can reduce the strike depth by 1.5–2 times (from 2,600 km down to 1,800–1,300 km). For the Burevestnik, this drawback is compensated for by its range.
