OIC Special Coordinator Jean Arnault discussed recent developments with LAF Commander Gen. Rodolph Haykal. He praised the LAF’s dedication in the face of challenges and reaffirmed his commitment to mobilizing international support for the military institution as it works to reinforce Lebanon’s unity, security and stability.

In a meeting with Minister of Information Paul Morcos, OIC UNSCOL Jean Arnault welcomed Parliament’s adoption of the long-awaited pro-reform Media Law. They underscored the importance of strengthening cooperation to help address hate speech, including on social media. Mr. Arnault recognized the critical role of responsible information in fostering understanding and trust among communities.

Lebanon has long taken pride in its vibrant and diverse media landscape, a vital part of the country’s democratic life. Parliament’s adoption of a new Media Law is a major step towards enhancing Lebanon’s media framework.

It’s effective implementation will be key to safeguarding freedom of expression and fostering an independent, pluralistic, professional and safe media environment, one that reflects Lebanon’s democratic traditions and strengthens public trust and understanding.

In Paris, UNSCOL OIC Jean Arnault participated in the Aqaba Process Meeting on supporting the @LebarmyOfficial , whose role is critical for enhancing security, stability and state authority in Lebanon. A welcome opportunity for Lebanon and its international partners to sit together and discuss the needs and best way forward.

في باريس، شارك جان أرنو، القائم بأعمال المنسق الخاص للأمم المتحدة في اجتماع مسار العقبة لدعم الجيش اللبناني، الذي يؤدي دوراً حيوياً في تعزيز الأمن والاستقرار وسلطة الدولة في لبنان. وقد شكل الاجتماع فرصةً مُرحَّباً بها للبنان وشركائه الدوليين للبحث معاً في الاحتياجات وأفضل السبل للمضي قدماً.

التقى أمس القائم بأعمال المنسّق الخاص للامم المتحدة في لبنان، جان أرنو، نائب رئيس مجلس النواب، إلياس بو صعب. وتم البحث في الجهود الجارية دعماً لاستقرار لبنان وسيادته وسلامة أراضيه. كما تم التداول بأجندة مجلس النواب الداعمة للإصلاح.

OIC Special Coordinator Jean Arnault met on Tuesday with Deputy Parliament Speaker Elias Bou Saab. They discussed ongoing efforts in support of Lebanon’s stability, sovereignty and territorial integrity. They also discussed Parliament’s pro-reform agenda.

Today, OIC UNSCOL Jean Arnault met with Minister of Culture Ghassan Salame. They discussed current developments in Lebanon and the region, the situation in the south and the way forward.

التقى اليوم القائم بأعمال المنسق الخاص للأمم المتحدة في لبنان، جان أرنو، بوزير الثقافة غسان سلامة. وتناول البحث التطورات الراهنة في لبنان والمنطقة، والوضع في الجنوب، وآفاق المرحلة المقبلة.

OIC Special Coordinator Jean Arnault had the pleasure to visit the Adyan Foundation and discuss with its President Nayla Tabbara their projects that promote responsible citizenship, religious dialogue and social cohesion in Lebanon.

During a discussion Adyan Foundation with representatives from different religious communities, Mr. Arnault noted the importance of searching for national consensus in the midst of diversity, which in turn encourages international support for Lebanon.

Emphasis was made during the discussions on the need to rebuild a value-based international system to address fairly the proliferation of conflicts and their impact on civilians, including in Lebanon and the Middle East.
