I know you guys would be comparing ur answers with answer keys. My kind advice is that, don't compare it with just one answer key. I know you won't do it but compare it with few reputed institutes keys. Toppers, Shankar, Vision if I could name a few.


You'll see that your mark may fluctuate 2-4 between keys. My marks in all three Prelims which I wrote was atleast 5 marks above the cut off which was predicted by the keys.

So don't worry about anything now. Don't think what will be the cut off for various categories. Take a break for 2-3 days and once that's done, start for Mains.

Now the clock for Mains is ticking and this will be toughest part because you've to do answer writing practice, read a humongous syllabus and remember them etc.

Don't doubt ur prep now, begin for Mains asap. All the very best

Hope you're preparing well for mains
One thing that will give you immense result is toppers answers. So whenever free, just check how toppers have written answers.

You can do something. Pick up the question which toppers have written answers, don't see their answers but write urs. After writing them, compare it with yours to see where you can improve.

Just don't browse every topper paper. Also, their test answers won't be the same as their final mains answers. My first test answer script and my final GS answer script have a difference of earth and sky level. So keep that in mind.

General trend of last year's Mains

1. GS 3 has been the lowest scoring paper. Crossing 90 was a good thing and 100 meant outstanding. In 2017 mains, people scored above 145 in GS3

2. GS4 gave away marks like giving chocolates on birthday. 125 is average this year in ethics and I've seen scores at 150s

3. Essay was a big time flop. Many are in the range of 130s

4. Biggest flop show is optional. Have seen many scores but didn't see any above 300 in optional. 270 is considered best in this year optional


All this culminated whereby final selection cut off this year was 961 vs 986 last year. Also the total seats were on the higher side this year compared to last year.

Hi all,

I'm willing to evaluate the answers of persons with Geography optional. Few conditions

1. You should have cleared the Prelims exam and a proof for that. Prelims hall ticket will be enough so that I can cross check

2. It should be a full question paper answered in 3 hrs strictly. I won't evaluate one answer everyday.

3. I'll give you detailed comments in 7-10 days. I'll correct papers till November end. In December I'll be busy with some personal work so.

4. At max 4 papers from a person. I won't have time to correct more than that

5. I'll take only first twenty people. 20*4=80 papers in a month is a tough challenge for me too. So I will be able to guide twenty.

6. I'll post your answer scripts so that others can also learn from you. I'll definitely remove your personal details, so rest assured your identity will not be known.

7. Once the twenty number is crossed, I'll put a message. No slot sharing will because evaluation is a continuous process and not an event. I'll know how you've improved by evaluating the next papers only.

8. Pick up any test series or PYQP. Send me the question paper as well as your written answers in pdf format. Scan using a pdf scanner and make sure answers are visible properly.

9. Send me ur first answer copy by 2nd November. I'll put a schedule and send me the copies before the date.

10. If i haven't received your copy by previous date, i won't correct the next one. So be serious.

Any answer lacking above shall lack good marks. Learn from others answers and improve. In this short time this is the most efficient way. See the answers and think how will you write if you're going to write the answer.

Geography is about Maps. Learn to draw beautiful maps rich in content. Don't draw for the sake of doing it rather try to make maps as an integral part of the answers.
