Dear Vetbooks users,

This website has been offline since January 8, 2026, due to a complete internet shutdown in Iran, where our team and servers are located.

The regime has cut internet access across the country, leaving over 90 million people disconnected from the world. Phone calls and SMS services have also been disrupted. At this moment, we do not know whether our team members inside Iran are alive and safe.

After cutting the internet, the regime launched a brutal crackdown on protesters. Under the cover of this digital darkness, tens of thousands have been killed, hundreds of thousands wounded, tens of thousands blinded, and tens of thousands arrested, many of whom are now awaiting severe sentences, including execution, according to reports from inside Iran.

This is the largest massacre and act of genocide in modern Iranian history.

Thank you for standing with the people of Iran.

⚠️ Update: #Iran's internet blackout continues through its 18th day, obscuring the extent of a deadly crackdown on civilians.

Meanwhile, gaps in the filternet are being tightened to limit circumvention while whitelisted regime accounts promote the Islamic Republic's narrative.

⚠️ Update: With #Iran's internet shutdown approaching day 20, many networks are becoming visible internationally.

HOWEVER:

📵 No return to usual: Web still heavily filtered on a whitelist basis.
🔧 Circumvention still needed: The opening of protocols can enable new workarounds.

⚠️ Update: 20 full days after #Iran imposed a national internet blackout, most ordinary users still face heavy filtering and intermittent service under a whitelist system despite a significant increase in internationally visible networks and datacenters.

⚠️ Update: The internet blackout in #Iran is now in its 28th day after 648 hours, with Iranians having spent more than half the year to date cut off from international networks.

Authorities continue to refine a two-tiered system where only regime apparatchiks are allowed online.

🗓️ Exactly one month ago on Saturday morning, 28 February, #Iran was plunged into digital darkness as authorities cut off access to the global internet.

After four full weeks, 672 hours, the blackout remains in effect, violating Iranians' right to communicate and stay informed.

Hello dear colleagues,

We understand you need access, but we need you to understand what the situation there actually is.

Right now, this is not about a slow connection or limited access. There is effectively no connection at all between Iran and the outside world. Data cannot go in or out. Servers inside Iran are completely unreachable from abroad, no matter what we try. The internet shutdown is not a technical or political inconvenience — it is imposed by the authorities to completely silence communication and information flow.

Even if there were limited technical options, moving the website to another country is not something we can just do. It involves serious copyright risks that could lead to the entire database being taken down.

But beyond the technical side, there is a much bigger reality. People there — including our team — are living in the middle of an ongoing war and a deeply unstable situation that followed the violent crackdown of January 2026, when the internet was also shut down for weeks. One of our core team members lost a close family member during those events.

At the moment, the team inside Iran is dealing with uncertainty, pressure, personal loss, and a deeply unclear future that has taken over their lives. Under these conditions, it’s not realistic to expect them to focus on things like migrating servers. This is not just a technical limitation, but a human one as well.

We will restore access if and when it becomes possible, but right now, that is simply out of our hands.

Thank you to those who understand.

📈 Confirmed: Live metrics show a partial restoration to internet connectivity in #Iran on day 88, after 2093 hours of near-total isolation from international networks, the longest nationwide internet shutdown in modern history. It is unclear if the restoration will be sustained.

Dear VetBooks users,

After more than 12 years, I honestly never thought I would have to write a message like this.

VetBooks was never a company or a large organization. For most of these years, I ran and maintained this website alone — purchasing and updating books, managing the servers, maintaining the database, fixing broken links, dealing with technical problems, and trying to keep the library available for everyone.

I kept doing it because I believed that access to veterinary knowledge should not depend on where someone lives or how much they can afford.

Unfortunately, the events of the past year have changed everything.

The prolonged, imposed internet shutdown in Iran cut us off from our users and financial support outside the country, while rising costs and the collapse of online services made maintaining the website increasingly difficult. On top of that, personal responsibilities and other circumstances that I prefer not to discuss have left me with very limited time, energy, and resources to rebuild what has been lost.

Now, another major part of VetBooks has disappeared.

UploadBoy — which hosted a large part of our book archive for many years — has permanently shut down after 13 years. This means that a significant part of our old download links has been lost.

In its farewell message, UploadBoy explained that years of economic pressure, rising infrastructure costs, cyberattacks, filtering, the loss of international users, prolonged disruptions to Iran's international connectivity, and the resulting collapse in traffic and revenue had made continuing impossible.

Their story is sadly very familiar to us.

A large part of Iran's independent online ecosystem has been pushed into the same situation. Services that survived for years are shutting down, while those that remain are struggling simply to stay alive.

For VetBooks, this means that many old download links are now gone, and I no longer have the financial or personal capacity to restore the entire archive as it was.

I will try to preserve what can still be preserved and keep VetBooks online for as long as I realistically can. But I also want to be honest with you: the VetBooks you knew may never fully return.

It is painful to see a project built and maintained for more than 12 years, almost entirely through personal effort, brought to this point by circumstances beyond my control.

A 12-year project was not simply allowed to fade away. It was destroyed piece by piece.

Thank you to everyone who used VetBooks, supported it, and kept it alive throughout these years.
