Italian State Bank Tokenizes Bonds Worth $27 Million on Polygon Network
The Italian bank Cassa Depositi e Prestiti has issued digital bonds amounting to $27.2 million using the Polygon Layer 2 (L2) network based on the Ethereum blockchain.
The transaction was part of a European Central Bank pilot aimed at finding new solutions for wholesale settlement on the blockchain.
Cassa Depositi bonds, maturing on November 18, 2024, offer a fixed coupon rate of 3.63% per annum.
Funds were transferred on the same day using the Bank of Italy's tool called TIPS Hash Link, which ensures interoperability between blockchains and traditional payment systems.

Polygon Sets September Date for Migration to POL Token from MATIC
Polygon Labs, the main developer firm behind the layer-2 network Polygon, said Wednesday that it will be performing the technical upgrade that swaps out its MATIC token for its new POL token starting on Sept. 4.
As part of the network’s migration, Polygon will tested the token upgrade on July 17 in a test network environment, in order to identify or fix any issues before POL is live on mainnet.
