Hello there!
In this issue, Ketema once again puts the spotlight on a building that linked the heritage of 4kilo with modern times by carefully fusing history, context and sustainability. Designed by the eclectic practice of Rahel Shawl, the building breathes an air of modernity while resonating the characters of the 60s and 70s architecture.
We also brought to you a very informative article that summarizes the core values of 'specification' and specifying during the design period of a building by the well-respected senior architect, Wouhib Kebede.

In today’s contemporary life, sport and architecture have a significant impact on the world around us. The role architecture and sports play in shaping cultures, societies, economies, and politics has been a topic of study for decades. The convergence of which offers a compounded influence on our lives today.
This first issue of 2023 explores an architectural piece that delicately symbolizes the dynamics of tennis sport by creating a merely distinguishable form. The International Tennis Club (ITC) building located near Bisrate Gabriel Church, designed by the seasoned practice of Mekbib Kassahun was developed by one of the founders and former president of the Ethiopian Tennis Federation.
