Namaste,

US equities closed mixed with bank stocks jumping after First Citizens BancShares bought a large portion of the assets and deposits of collapsed SVB and on signs that the turmoil in the sector is easing. Dow closed with gains of close to 0.60%, S&P also closed marginally higher by 0.16% and Nasdaq lost 0.47% as 10 year yields spiked.

USD index fell near 102.83, 10 year jumped near 3.53% and cboe vix fell near 20.60.

Crude prices moved up sharply after Iraq's export halt from some area and easing banking crisis fears lifted sentiments, WTI traded above 72, Brent above 78.

Indian markets managed to halt two days of losses as stocks recovered some ground, however the trading remained volatile as at higher levels stocks found some resistance and failed to move further. Sensex gained 127 points and Nifty came near 17000 at close. Pharma, FMCG and some PSU banks led the recovery on Dalal Street as money continued to search for safety in an otherwise volatile market.

*Better global equity sentiments, tomorrow's quadruple witching day volatility and fiscal year-end consideration may dominate trade for next two days on Dalal Street. Participants may continue to rotate positions for next few sessions and once markets stabilize one may start building positions for a more linear trend.*

NSE INDICES SEMI ANNUAL REVIEW ADJ 29 MARCH 2023
10 big income tax rule changes from 1 April 2023 for taxpayers.

#axiitshah

Details here :

There are many changes in the income tax rules effective from this financial year. Changes in income tax slabs to tax rebate limit raised, No LTCG tax benefit on some debt mutual funds are some of the major changes effective from 1 April 2023.

1) New income tax regime to be default regime - Starting, 1 April 2023, the new income tax regime will act as the default tax regime. Tax assessors will still be able to choose from the prior regime. Salaried and pensioners: the new system's standard deduction for taxable income exceeding Rs.15.5 lakhs is Rs52,500. The government in Budget 2020-21 brought in an optional income tax regime, under which individuals and Hindu Undivided Families (HUFs) were to be taxed at lower rates if they did not avail specified exemptions and deductions, like house rent allowance (HRA), interest on home loan, investments made under Section 80C, 80D and 80CCD. Under this, total income up to โ‚น2.5 lakh was tax exempt.

2) Tax rebate limit raised to Rs7 lakh - The enhancement of tax rebate limit to Rs7 lakh from Rs5 lakh  means that the person whose income is less than โ‚น7 lakh need not invest anything to claim exemptions and the entire income would be tax-free irrespective of the quantum of investment made by such an individual.

3) Standard deduction - There is no change in standard deduction of Rs50000 provided to employees under old tax regime. For pensioners, the finance minister announced extending the benefit of standard deduction to new tax regime. Each salaried person with an income of Rs15.5 lakh or more will benefit by Rs52,500.

4) Changes in Income Tax slabs - The new tax rates are - 0-3 lakh โ€“ nil. 3-6 lakh - 5%. 6-9 lakh- 10%. 9-12 lakh - 15%. 12-15 lakh - 20%. above 15 lakh- 30%

5) LTA - The leave encashment for non government employees is exempt up to a certain limit. This limit was Rs3 lakh since 2002 and is now increased to Rs25 lakh

6) No LTCG tax benefit on these Mutual Funds - From April 1, investments in debt mutual funds will be taxed as short-term capital gains. The move would strip investors of the long term tax benefits that had made such investments popular.

7) Market Linked Debentures (MLDs) -  Also, investment in Market Linked Debentures (MLDs) post April 1 will be short term capital assets. With this, grandfathering of earlier investments will end and the impact on the mutual fund industry will be slightly negative.

8) Life Insurance policies -  Proceeds from life insurance premium over the annual premium of Rs5 lakh would be taxable from new financial year i.e. from 1st April 2023. Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, while presenting Budget 2023, aslo announced that the new income tax rule won't be applicable on ULIP (Unit Linked Insurance Plan).

9) Benefits to Senior Citizens - The maximum deposit limit for senior citizen savings scheme will be increased to Rs30 lakhs from Rs15 lakhs. The maximum deposit limit for monthly income scheme will be increased to Rs9 lakhs from Rs4.5 lakhs for single accounts and Rs15 lakhs from Rs7.5 lakhs for joint accounts.

Physical gold conversion to e-gold receipt not to attract capital gains tax - While presenting Budget 2023, Sitharaman said there will not be any capital gain tax if physical gold is converted to an Electronic Gold Receipt (EGR) and
vice versa. This will be effective from 1 April 2023.

Pranam,

US markets posted strong back to back gains for two days as investors started to digest banking troubles and penciling in slower rate hikes or even a pause. Dow gained 0.43% on Thursday adding onto strong gains of Wednesday, S&P stayed above 4000 for the second day in a row and Nasdaq topped 12000 after many days of trade.

USD index traded in a narrow range near 102.20, 10 year traded flat near 3.55% and cboe vix continued to trade lower near 19.02.

Crude futures moved higher on favorable US supply demand equation, WTI moved above 74, Brent traded above 79.

Indian stocks posted strong gains on Wednesday as short covering and some bargain hunting helped stocks post solid gains on March expiry. Most sectors saw stocks recovering from multi-day sell-offs led by IT, Auto and Metal names. Sensex added 346 points and Nifty gained 129 points at close.

Stocks may continue to recover on global equity sentiments ahead of the start of the Annual results season. Favorable USD index, some FPI allocation and bargain hunting may help stock seek higher levels before the results season decides the fate of individual names for near term. Participants may continue to hold positions with trailing stops losses near March lows for the next few weeks to benefit from recovery trade. Many global markets are now trading at their 2023 highs (some European markets are trading at stones throw away from life/one year highs), raising hopes at Dalal Street for a more durable rally.

๐Ÿ‡ฎ๐Ÿ‡ณ 9 Financial lessons from RaMaYaN for Financial Year 2023 24 ๐Ÿšฉ

1. Secure your life :
You are not Laxman, and there is no Hanuman to get Sanjeevani for you....
so get health & life insurance today.

2.Set your budget :
Set "Laxman Rekha" of your financial budget and make sure not to cross it due to luring online discounts. Understand the difference between need and want .... be financially disciplined.

3.Contingency Fund :
Unexpectedly, Lord Ram was sent to 'Vanvas' for 14 Years and was forced to leave his luxurious Palace. Not everyone can live with such sudden changes in lifestyle. Have an adequate emergency fund to handle unforeseen circumstances.

4.Be Patient/Think Long Term :
During the 14 years of 'Vanvas', Lord Ram faced many ups and downs, including the kidnapping of Sita. Lord Ram patiently waited until the situation became favorable, rather than choosing shortcuts. Stay invested for the long term, there is no shortcut to success.

5.Choose advisers wisely :
Kaikeyi took Manthara's advice... & Ramayan happened.
Stay away from those trying to sell Lucrative policies and distributors who are disguised as advisors for their own benefit.

6.Build a Corpus :
Lord Ram, Sita, and Laxman left Ayodhya with nothing. They patiently built their network and Vanar Sena over the years in order to reach the objective of defeating the Ravan. It takes patience to build a corpus, to defeat inflation in the long run.

7.Cultivate discipline :
Lord Ram practiced "Dharma" in order to be right, responsible and disciplined in life. Apply a similar theory to your life. Save judiciously, spend carefully and invest wisely for a disciplined financial life.

8.Wipe your slate and start over :
14-day Lanka War marked the defeat of evil and set the stage for a new path. Similarly, forget bad decisions that you made in the past and make informed decisions to streamline your financial journey.

9. Believe in karma : Continue to do good things and karma will eventually reach you.
