US stocks fell on Thursday as mixed set of economic data clouded recovery on Wall Street. On the economy front jobs and retail sales data cheered but on the flip side manufacturing activity and import prices disappointed the street, leading to a drop in stock indices. Dow dropped 0.56%, S&P lost 1.13% and Nasdaq closed 1.43% lower hitting weakest close in two months.

USD index traded flat near 109.69, 10 year inched up a bit near 3.44%, CBOE Vix remained nearly unchanged at 26.27.

Crude futures dropped nearly 3% as US reached agreements on rail roads. IEA indication on lower demand, strength in USD and fear of aggressive rate hike marred the sentiment, Brent dropped near 90, WTI fell near 85.

Indian indices lost some ground on Thursday as IT names once again dragged benchmarks lower partially offset by strength in Auto names. Mid and Small cap names (likes of tyres, Cap good names) outperformed the markets as investors tried to search for opportunities beyond large caps. Nifty closed well below 18000 and Sensex gave up 60000.

Markets may remain choppy as weakness in global markets may get partially offset by fall in oil prices. Participants may continue watching sectoral trends that may offer rotational opportunities in near term. Also, as indicated earlier use weakness to buy, strength to sell and at the net level reduce leverages before the rate event slated over next few days.
